Weekly CTF?
 

Ok I'll make a new thread instead of "bumping" an old one from 7 months ago.

Would anyone be interested in participated in a weekly CTF event, where 2-3 games would be hosted in a row?

I'd probably need to hire two or three GCs to help out, as my schedule can be random at times, but I think having players come back from time to time and have some fun would be beneficial to the server.

Nope, I wouldn't be participating in a weekly CTF.
You have to rely to much on others, and there is no way of having a good overview of the situation in that event. Unless it's greatly improved on all aspects, I see no reason to base so much of Classic on that event.

I'm interested. But it'd have to be on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

I wouldn't call this basing the server off of an event, it's meant to provide something for players to do in the mean time while the server is UC and actual content is still being worked on, it also potentially brings more interest in the server for when it does become closer to being ready.

Ofcourse this does depend on other players turning up, which is exactly why it may need to run on an organised basis.

except ctf isn't going to be played with serverside hd anymore.

Not that I want this specific discussion to continue, but recall Aeres that Highlander had only played 12 games to that point.

Now I'm not saying his analysis was wrong or anything, but 12 matches isn't nearly enough data to make a tier list off of, especially when you're playing in them. It's easier for a GC to see players and how they preform overall in different circumstances because their attention isn't split by also trying to defend/flag hunt/etc.

But regardless, it's going to be a long time before we have an accurate tier list, if such a thing can be made in the first place. So we might as well stay on topic and reply whether or not we'd want to participate in a weekly ctf :D

That tier list is so off. Deo and yump were the ones who got angry and left when they were losing, not me and luda.

You should host this thing on Saturdays. Usually more people are free then.

How does Saturdays 10 PM - Midnight GMT/5 - 7 PM Eastern sound?

Also looking at implementing a proper "timed mode" to ensure games don't last too long or perhaps for fitting 2 games into a half an hour slot etc, ties resulting in a "Golden Goal".

UN's Monthly Sparring Tournament, Major Sparring Tournament, and Guild Sparring Tournament is on at that time, so GL.

Their Monthly (UTC) Weekly (MST) starts taking accounts at 5.30pm EST, starting at 6.00pm EST. After that they start taking accounts for the Guild Spar Tournament at 7.00pm EST which goes on for about an hour too.

I guess this means that slotting around it would either be inconveniently late for European players, or possibly too early for US based players.
Is this happening every single week or just once a month?
Could possibly have the CTF night moved to Sunday in these instances.

MST is once a week, UTC is once a month hosted instead of MST's, and the Guild Tournament is hosted once a week too.

Well then I think it's necessary that those interested in participating post their preferred times.

I think Sunday would be good.

How so? Sunday evenings usually are days people like to focus on their homework/get ready for the beginning of a new week.

Saturday nights would probably be ideal in any situation, despite the late time it would have to be hosted. (largely due to the timing of UN events) But I don't know how many European players care to play until 2 AM on a Saturday (assuming this takes 1 to 1 and a half hours and starts around lets say 8:30 pm est) versus starting at 12AM(7pm EST?) on a sunday.
