Nice touch, those details give it a nice feel to it. Unless of course you're afraid of thunder and lightning then a simple game might just stress you out. :D

Emera 06-03-2011 01:38 AM

I'm practically in love with the weather effects which I expressed to crow via a flood of love mail while enjoying a heavy downpour. Good work crow & co

Tricxta 06-03-2011 11:47 AM

Epic!!, with this kind of quality I can't wait to see what the dungeons are like :)

That makes me want to go stand in a thunderstorm and watch the skies.

Best weather system I've seen on Graal. Now all you need to do is make quests that are only accessible when it rains, etc. Then it'll be pretty AND useful for content pacing.

DustyPorViva 06-03-2011 08:24 PM

Hmm, a few opinions.

1) The rain noise inside of the buildings(sorry, only have the video to go by) seems... wrong. Maybe if you halve the volume of it it'd sound more appropriate. Just seems opposite when you go outside and hear a much softer rain.

2) I take it the black clouds when it's sunny are cloud shadows? To me it looks more like a black fog. Every single wisp of it is attached, and doesn't give the impression of individual clouds.

Ya I was going to do something similar. Have puddles dry up on sunny days, exposing underground areas, or water expanding when it rains giving new pathways and such.

xAndrewx 06-03-2011 09:33 PM

nicee- how're you triggering the system? using serverr flags / timeout?

Yes. Pretty much the only thing I consider serverr.flags useful for.

Glad it makes you say that! ^^

@Dusty: Yea, something is still a bit wrong with the sounds. I'll figure that out later. Also, I agree with the clouds not being quite good yet. I got an idea for those, not sure if it'll look good though.

@Rufus: Quest stuff depending on weather sounds good. Guess we'll do something in that kind of way.

Creating individual bodies in the shadow image would be a start, instead of everything being attached until you get to your other idea.

That's what I want to do, but I'm not quite sure if it'll work out. Photoshop just tends to be good at creating tileable cloud images, even though they don't really look like clouds... I will be playing around with some settings a bit, see if I can get this mess separated. If that doesn't work out, Nitron will have to create something manually :p I'm not good at that stuff.

fowlplay4 06-03-2011 11:49 PM

There should be a random chance (maybe 0.005%) to get struck by lightning.

Maybe :p

Unkownsoldier 06-04-2011 01:23 AM

The weather system seems quite nice ^^

Exactly. So take what you have now and edit it instead of trying to do a tileable image from scratch :) Or post it here and I'll try to edit it.

Crow 06-04-2011 10:19 AM

I gave it a try. Hop on and tell me what you think. Although, to be honest, I liked it more before..

Hmm. Post the original(before you edited) here and I'll take a stab at it.

I didn't upload the edited version, I've created a new one. Editing the old one just showed me that it wasn't quite suitable for the job because it had mostly strange shapes :p What bothers me is that the old overlay just added some atmosphere, and the one currently uploaded one does have seperate clouds, but looks somewhat strange because there's nothing inbetween. I'm okay with how it turned out, basically, but how it looks on the server doesn't make me particularly happy.

Rufus 06-04-2011 04:33 PM

Recorded just 4 u.

Crow 06-04-2011 05:06 PM

Thanks, I guess. That's the stuff you can only get by doing it manually from scratch though, so I'll need help from Nitron :p

krossi 06-04-2011 08:20 PM

:d yay atlantis is back! And its more zelda style than before!!!

Luda 06-04-2011 10:25 PM

Yup. Still need to contact Stefan about it.

Lourne 06-22-2011 06:51 AM

Any updates in the last couple weeks? This has the potential to be an amazing classic-type server. Would love to hear how things are progressing if there is any news to share!

Crow 06-22-2011 12:57 PM

Working on the start screen, tutorial and first little "dungeon" right now. Should be ready soon :)

maximus_asinus 06-29-2011 05:06 PM

I logged on a few nights ago and I liked what I seen system wise but I was very disappointed with the reuse of older levels. The levels are seriously dated, and poor quality even in it's time. I expected to see something different, the systems were so nice :(.

Not sure if troll. Serious? Many players have said that they like the levels, and if I recall correctly, not a single old level has been used.

maximus_asinus 06-29-2011 09:22 PM

you aren't reusing levels? now I look like an ass because I still stand by my statement about the level quality.

xAndrewx 06-29-2011 10:27 PM

lol

Not yet, no. We plan to include some small areas consisting of only old levels, to remind the players of how Atlantis was like before. I really don't know why you don't like our current ones though :(

skillmaster19 07-22-2011 05:24 AM

Is this server still being worked on? Haven't heard of many updates. It seems like every server makes hosted then it dies :(

Reaching the Hosted Tab isn't really a barometer of success, it is meant to be a way to advertise yourself to potential developers. It's possible that they may have gained one or 2 contributors as a result.

My intention with Classic is for it to go straight onto the PlayerWorlds tab provided progress can be kept up.

Crow 12-10-2011 01:59 PM

Yo!

I'm here to tell you guys that we have, in fact, not given up Atlantis. We decided to take a break from things a while ago, but we will be working on the project again soon. I can't give a precise date yet, but trust me when I'm saying that we're still alive :)

Emera 12-10-2011 02:31 PM

Good to hear. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with next.

NicoX 12-11-2011 05:52 AM

Nice. Would love to see it on Classic Tab again! Keep it up :)

Crono 12-11-2011 05:36 PM

if i was forced to idle on a server and keep the window open fullscreen in front of other people, it would be atlantis
