holy **** just shut the **** up and let them work on the server and then critique it when they say it's a finished product

on another note, it's saddening to me that most of the ideas/advice i've given too you two is being ignored. i understand the want to make a server of your own devices, but you could have been finished by now if you had listened to me in the first place

not trying to be a *******. But it takes a lot more then ideas and words to make a "good" server that people will play

I get your point though, this has taken way to long.

Decus_Arillias 07-02-2010 07:01 PM

Also, believe me when i say this, you have nothing to do with what direction the server goes in Dusty, i could care less if the whole tileset was a straight rip from zelda, Its not because of you I said where these images came from. I saw people loging on and i wanted to be clear to EVERYONE where it all came from. I dont have anyone to answer to, and THATS the only reason i stated where it came from. Obiously locked no one would ever see it besides globals, so i didnt have to worry much about content that was not going to be used anyways. Your advise was taken before you even spoke.

Course not
I just wanna say that because we've had a lot of **** in the past decus it doesn't give you a right just as Corey doesn't have a right to say "Oh they got caught hurr hurr!" and honestly makes both parties look stupid in this lil argument.

Decus_Arillias 07-02-2010 08:02 PM

not sure who you are, probably been to long for me to remember. Anyways your right, no need to be childish. Bottom Line. All content is not being used. Expect impressive small release (open town gmap to public gold)within a month or so.

Shards-Of-Fate 07-02-2010 08:07 PM

So... Any opening event?

Decus_Arillias 07-02-2010 08:10 PM

lol ill make confetty fall from the sky in celebration to the first town complete. Themed for castle style, similar to my cross castle that was previewed yesterday mixed with a persian "port" theme as well. Just gotta get these damn tiles done z.Z

My apology to anyone i was rude to above.

If anyone is interested in working with me, we have a lot of new ideas, good systems in creation, that would like to help, let me know.

Just dont get overwhelmed and give up. The gmap is now 25X25.. :) huge gmap is needed for our plans for this server. We're not expecting to get all 625 levels (outside only) finished before classic release / host. Just enough content to attract players.

maximus_asinus 07-02-2010 09:18 PM

I can tile for you, but I don't really have much GS2 scripting knowledge, and I don't have gold (though I have no problem developing offline). Also I work quite a bit so I couldn't devote anything more than a hour or two a day.

Shards-Of-Fate 07-02-2010 09:28 PM

I don't mind doing a little bit of freelancing--If needed.

Glad you see it my way. I'm N-Pulse's Events Chief. Might have seen my nickname before.

what's your problem? unlike many others in this thread, i'm a part of the server staff for armageddon, so if you are trying to allude that i should take my own advice, then you have a misunderstanding to my interests in this thread

everything i said was geared towards making things take a shorter amount of time based around the ideas that were already in place. keeping the overworld small (for starters) but allowing players to see that they were only trapped inside what was a much bigger world which they could not get past (because it isn't finished) is a prime example of advice given and ignored

you see no, no you don't need a giant gmap for all the events and things that are needed, and i've tried to get this point across several times. 625 levels for just you to complete is not the way to go about finishing the server when you could condense that into 125 levels and produce the same result. the size of the original gmap that was in place was already big enough to fit everything in, including some of those bigger guild-related events because they do not need to be on the overworld itself. somehow, however, i don't think you'll agree with my point of view

Wow, a bunch of negative nancy's in here.

Exit to the left please. We don't need you guys in here. If you want to give constructive criticism, sure. But I'm sure they don't want your subtle *******s comments. GTFO.

Bud. Give it up. You've been working on a supposive "work in progress" for over a year. Get over it, the management on NP will never make a revival, it's a fact. Quit while you're ahead.. Oh wait, you're not ahead.

And...?

Precise 07-03-2010 04:25 AM

I made my point. There's a line where constructive criticism meets subtle "*******-ism".

Sorry, grammar/spelling nazi, next time I should put forth as much effort into a forum post as my school essays. /endsarcasm

Yes they is.

This thread isn't about debates on stuff on Armageddon, and I've said that many times in the thread.

sssssssssss 07-03-2010 04:49 PM

Anyone who was on Armageddon last time it was up, I'm looking for the gui we used to have, as we have lost it. Its the few that are armageddon_window, armageddon_tab, ect I think. If you have it, can you please forum pm me, and I will give you my email address to send it. Thanks.

Precise 07-03-2010 07:17 PM

cyril - tell me where to find it and I'll send it over.

P.S - Just throw some cheese under the river-bridge. These trolls will go back crawling right where they came from.

Figured I'd go ahead and post an update. Since some things have changed, completion has lowered.

Systems: 60%
Weapons: 40%
Levels: 0%
GFX: 50%
Other (event prizes,quests,ect):1% (lol, seriously)

I will be updating this constantly as we get stuff done.

He's extreme. While most people have levels, he simply uses images. He painstakingly crafts "levels" in paint, using only the pen tool. Rather than wasting time with links and gmaps, he links everything together via script. His is a server without levels.

His next project will be without images, and then without scripts.

Eventually his server will just be one empty black level.

And it will rock.

You know it. ;)

Fact of the matter is even though levels were at like 50% or something, that took a little over a week, and since we're using a different tileset type, and changing the tiles yet once again (hopefully the last time or we'll never release), it is kind of easier to start over than edit everything. Plus instead of having the 4 gmaps we were going to have, we're just going to have 2 now.

WanDaMan 07-04-2010 06:45 PM

Wouldn't it be a lot easier to use the current overworld and just re-work the tileset rather than having a new overworld?

Decus_Arillias 07-05-2010 01:33 AM

it would be more
Levels:0%
GFX:10%

no because were going to have a different tileset type, so every single thing will be off probably. Also, things like cliffing will be fixed, and that would just take forever, compared to just doing a new one. Plus adding levels into the gmap is a *****, so again, just starting over is easier, or at least about the same.

LordSquirt 07-05-2010 06:05 PM

I remember Hiro posted this before, but won't bother to look for it.

Why do you need such a big GMAP? If the server is successful it will have maybe like 50-60 players. In my opinion it's better if all the players are close to one another instead of all spread out. I don't get why you need such a high amount of levels to make a server.

Players are going to naturally clump together in some level or area so this isn't that big of deal. They also have a mount system so to restrict themselves to a small area will make that system feel kind of useless.

A long time ago when "Era Dev" was being made the Dev Admin at the time wanted to give cars a use. Therefore, she made the overworld HUGE, so cars had somewhat of a point. However, it was ugly, it was a mess, and most importantly it was useless. You shouldn't develop an overworld because of one specific detail that can just be removed.

ps:u can ask chris 2 back up this statement
