Look a reset won't happen. We will run into the same problem again not to mention a lot of us who spent time levelling and getting our stuff (non-usders) will be very mad. What needs to happen is for stefan to release new content. I am happy that the flying tech is coming but the other thing he's working on I don't think is neccessary. We need new dungeons/monsters/quests.

Crimson2005 07-02-2007 07:14 PM

Nothing needs reset/taken away, things just need added.

Gothika 07-02-2007 07:26 PM

Not really new dungeons. Just new maps with new monsters. That will help with leveling, and help the economy more too. I'd say release 2 new maps. One with better magic monsters and one with better physical monsters.
Also, bigger, badder monsters where you need to work in a team to beat.
Like lords, They are originaly ment for a group of people to fight them, but they are easy enough to kill on your own.

Cubical 07-02-2007 07:55 PM

Get rid of EAing stuff, Whoever came up with that idea didn't think twice.

gravator 07-02-2007 08:24 PM

Limit how many skill scrolls can be learned, or what skill scrolls a particular class can use maybe? or take them out entirely so the 6 different classes can be reshaped again to actually fit into the GK setting somehow.

Not saying the current people should have skills removed from their avatars, but prevent newer players, or people resetting from gaining the benefits of all starting classes.

Cubical 07-02-2007 08:33 PM

That would make it unfair to all the newer players which is what keeps them from playing to begin with. If there was a level reset and they got rid of EAing It would keep people from reaching 107 and give the newer players a chance since they can use any bugs to level up like the other players. People who earned their items shouldn't have them removed although if your doing a level reset you might as well do an item reset while your at it. But they won't do a reset anyways because they think GK will just die.

DustyPorViva 07-02-2007 08:41 PM

Resetting, putting it onto classic list, are both just band-aid fixes. The problems will repeat themselves unless something is actually done about it. The only way either of those choices would work is if they were done with a new mind-set about the server. IE, sure, a reset would be useful only if after the reset, all issues were dealt with, and updates were kept. Otherwise problems would just come back soon enough.

Or staff could make it so, you can only EA your own items or somthing or make this possible by putting a restriction on armour, not being able to wear it unless your the correct level for that number of EAs.

Moonite 07-03-2007 12:24 AM

Just make the EAed Items like the this Prepared Weapons

Like:
"These are Moonite's GLÜCKSSTIEFEL +7 "
and if anyone else want to hold Those GLÜCKSSTIEGEL The OWNER (MOONITE) has 2 Cleanse those boots FIRST before Anyone else can hold them!
Moonite cant even Put his GLÜCKSSTIEFEL on the Trade Table!

After Moonite Cleansed these Boots he can Trade them away or put them on the trade table.. or just drop them on the ground

There will be less scamm.

CLASS SYSTEM!
Why is there an Class System? u just can ****ing learn anything that other classes can!

it just should be like on the Start

Priest
can cure himself or other players
can heal himself or other players
can use his prayers to defend himselfs
can bless weapons, but cant use them (except small like daggers or something like that)

Warriorr could hold larger weapons but cant use magic or something..
it would make more sense what class u pick from the beginning

Alchymist would make alot of Money with there Items that they can creat..

Good idea, I guess. But people won't go for it. It measn they'd have to keep forking out 60 diamonds to EA the armour again after every trade.

Mousymee 07-03-2007 12:43 AM

If they took out EAing, more people could break ac, and would encourage bmoding. That's really not a bad idea.

I think it would stop people going into bmode. Because without ac, they'd be getting killed all the time.

Felix_Xenophobe 07-03-2007 01:00 AM

'IF THEY GOT RID OF EA'ING I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GODMODE VS LOWBIES

Perhaps a Graal subscription boycott is in order? Just a thought.

They'd get killed with ac too, but at least without it they can hit us too.

That doesn't take away the fact that you had to level up with an unfair disadvantage. I don't know what your level is, and assuming you havn't maxed everything out... maybe you'd be at a much higher level or even wealth if it wasn't for disabling partying past 20?
I'm not arguing against you.
I'm arguing against the system.

Also, a reset refers to items and levels. Everything. Going back to nothing. No items anywhere, on anyone, lying on any floor, nowhere. Resetting levels but not items would be ridiculous.
"Remove EAing, limits skill scrolls"... These ideas are just as bad as what's happened in the past UNLESS you bring a reset of some sort with it.

Here's why a reset is better. Let's say you use some of these ideas. Let's say they limit skill scrolls to create a balance. (and they make it so you can only be as your class) Let's say your class is sorceror and you have melee weapons you invested a lot into. (If you're like me, you'd at least have your rare event item weapon you put lots of diamonds and EW's into, not to mention the blessing... and then you have an other rare weapon that you put lots of diamonds and IWD's into.) So they make it so sorcs can no longer use melee weapons. They have one of two choices- let you keep your current skills/status, giving you an unfair advantage over new players for years to come. Or they can remove that stuff from you. Of course, since you invested so much into it, you'd be upset. I would too. As it turns out, you never got around to working on your sorcery enough (since the mechanics of the games work that way...)... so you feel the barbarian who you were once at a competitive level with, now has a great advantage because like you, he relied mostly on melee weapons, however, his were not removed. A reset, however, would level everyone to the same playing field.

This idea works with anythting. You can't just remove something from the game and ignore that people were already using it and benefitting from it, will continue to have an advantage over other people.

Also, some of you are giving an invalid argument of "They'll never reset". The argument isn't whether or not they'll reset. It's if we want them to reset or not, and why or why not. Noone is arguing saying "surely they'll reset!". Such an argument is pointless.

Then they might aswell just get rid off all levels, armour, and weapons. Apart from a sword and a bow. And people just hit each other like on classic.

I do agree with most of what you said.

Felix_Xenophobe 07-03-2007 02:12 AM

I think most of you who wants a reset expects GK to go back to what it was when it first was released. And it's not going to be like that.

Because? I wasn't around for the first gk but I think a reset would be nice because then I might be the same level as some of those people who spend a ton of time on and I might stand a chance in a fight against them with only a fraction of the time on the server.

Yeah, only the players could do that, the community. The players back then were who made the game fun.

Then what about the people who come after you and the rest who get a chance? They'll be behind. You can never 'catch up' in an online game because someone is always starting after someone else. It just isn't logical and resetting isn't going to fix that problem. Probably only fix it for you, and there isn't a high chance you'll still get what you want.

cyan3 07-03-2007 02:23 AM

When i was new to Graal Kingdoms i didn't think the game as imbalanced and wanted a reset all i wanted to focus on was leveling and buying items and try and improve my player. So why do people ask for a reset now? when 2 or so years ago they didn't. It's just because you are better than you and you are too lazy to atleast try and level and buy items.

MisterMastermind 07-03-2007 03:09 AM

If GK ever wants to see new players they'll have to force a reset.

kia345 07-03-2007 03:15 AM

I'm starting to get how stupid a reset would be...

If Gk resets, it will be ok, for a bit. But as soon as someone reaches the highest level people will immediately complain about how there needs to be a reset again.

How so? Levels mean more hp/damage. armor helps reduce damage a bit and add stats, and weapons add damage. I don't see what you mean by they should just get rid of everything and go classic?

I'm level 82 I know i'm mostly agilty but I'm all for a reset. It's almost impossible for most people to catch up that start playing because they weren't around for all the bugs that have been abused, Like the party bug which even Sam used. All though we will ***** and complain nothing like this will happen because they think that GK will end up like maloria when it reset and just die but maloria was already dead when they reset. Look at zodiac everyone who played there before the reset still plays and then some. If anything it would draw new players because they would actually havea chance to catch up.

Mousymee 07-03-2007 03:53 AM

It's not really impossible, I have 48 wisdom legit, and physique is much easier to level than that.

Kingdoms will never be like it was, what we can hope for is something better. Everyone I ever liked playing with left for various reasons. The reason I quit was because the server kept reseting me, I lost all my work and items. Then I lost my ranking when Graynt turned Zormite into a kingdom of Drows. I lost more items too trade bugs. Most of the bugs that made me mad are gone and I understand that none of you want to lose your items, but I believe a complete server reset would be benefit Kingdoms as a whole. Even if it does help for a short time, that will be time that we can use to fix those other problems

Not true, I find it very easy to level. You can get to level 110 using aglility or mental within a week. And the, just focus on training your important skills.
Phys, is rather easy to level. Just do a load of maps, same as wisdom.

sage_scooby 07-03-2007 05:34 PM

A reset would do no good until they make changes on GK.

AznLaoGuy 07-03-2007 07:28 PM

What's the point of playing Graal Kingdoms?

1. Nothing interesting ever happens, everyone is dull and boring.

2. Not much to do, all you do is level up and trade stuff.

3. GK is unbelievably broken, see leveling agility, party glitchers, sparring is awful, so is leveling in general.

4. If you're going to copy and paste Crossfire's code, at least stay true to its roots.

5. The holiday events barely have an appeal to the general audience, carrot daggers, christmas hats, wtf?

6. Economy ruined, and the staff did no help but actually spawned diamonds and paid someone to USD them.

There is no reason to reset now, there really isn't much to do on Graal Kingdoms anyways...

Yes, they should do changes first.

But you're still wrong. It WOULD do good because there are things they've already changed and a reset would complement those changes.

I wonder what would happen to ice daggers if there was a reset....? New event item?
Things should be written in stone and figured out before done. Either make something an event item, a craftable/creatable (crafted...alchemized...etc), or gift item (released regularly on holidays...). Event items should be limited in quantity. Craftable items should have no limit in how many can be on the server. And gift items should come out every holiday. And it should be the same ones every holiday, unless they don't have a real power-value (ie: dont realize powerful wizard hats christmas 2007, and then refuse to ever release them again because they're "unbalanced").

Many of you say things will occurr the same if there's a reset. This is untrue, yet true in some ways. It's untrue because after a reset, this time around, we'll be playing with all those "bugs" and balances fixed... now when new bugs and balances are fixed, and people aren't reset, that's when there'll be a new problem. Let's say there's a reset today. Yay. Everyone who benefitted from old stuff is back on the same opportunity level as everyone who didn't. Then tomorrow they mess with skills so that you can't learn ones that shouldn't pertain to your class. Well, everyone who learned them today gets to keep them, but everyone who starts tomorrow can't learn them...

I'll say it again;
The only advantage people who start earlier should have over people who join the game later is that advantage of time. Nothing else. Isn't that how most other games work anyways? They have a beta-testing phase to sort out all the bugs, then perhaps they reset (and even if they dont...at least the beta was limited to a few people...), and then the game is released publicly.

Gothika 07-03-2007 07:38 PM

Your posts are to long Ziro :(

DustyPorViva 07-03-2007 07:43 PM

Changes itself won't help a reset that much. Constant attention will help a reset be successful. Changes will help at first, but then if there is not constant changes and additions, it will fall right back into what it is now.
Bugs that people exploited and were fixed should be addressed individually, instead of globally with a reset, unless of course it was pretty much abused by a huge majority. This goes along with constant attention to the server.

Interesting to read your statement. You should going to start a careere as reporter for the yellow press. They also blowing out fantasy stories without rhyme or reason.

Too bad it's basically true, Sam. GK fails. I said this long ago, glad more people are finally acknowledging it as a fact. The server can be fixed and reset, but you have to ask yourself this question and place yourself in Stefan's boots?

Is it worth it? Can it be done in a timely manner with my available resources? Will it interfere with my work on new versions, Vista compatibility, Graal3D, etc.?

Right now, It is not in the best interest to fix the server and reset it. Rather keep mooching money of unsuspecting players, and even some of the people that have played it for longer. When the population drops to 2-8 players max a day or so, maybe it can be brought down and replace its void with a few classic servers to spread the load again.

Anyway, if you want GK fixed. Someone make a new thread, post some stuff, be serious, and offer your help. Maybe if Stefan can find enough people with some incentive and ability to work without motivation and constant reminders that you are being loved he might just go with it and still save himself and whoever scripts with him for updating the game client and Graal3D.

How it's always been, you get used to it after a while. I mean they delete posts because they "derail" threads, but posting off topic is not against the rules as the rules state nothing about it.

GK is just out of date, it's been 5 years...a new 2D server to replace GK is needed. Just like G2k1 only lasted what, a year or two?
