Yes. Yes it does. Yay Tux!

WanDaMan 04-30-2004 07:48 PM

I'm quite used to having the peoples name on top of the message boards, it's confusing the way it is now.. (my opinion)

HoudiniMan 04-30-2004 09:10 PM

I think the moderators for the forums should be listed differently... It's hard to know if they're online or not.

Do they show up in active users when they are?

busyrobot 05-01-2004 02:18 AM

another suggestion,

when you are using the thread view, and you click an entry, is should use an anchor to jump to the selected post.

Right now, when the page reloads, it scrolls to the top of the thread window panel when you select a thread deep down the page.

They have different colored names and have +s next to them in the active user list.

I doubt anyone's going to get free months of gold...

especially since a lot of the ideas posted were just edits of what others have said... so then who gets the credit, the origional poster, or the one who edited the idea to be better? would be kinda hard to pick out the people with the best ideas... and also judging by the lack of replies from Stefan or Unix... eh, oh well
I hope some of these ideas are put into effect at least

Dach 05-01-2004 05:00 PM

that is more of an optimization than an idea worthy of an upgrade anyhow, but yeah, I'd doubt that anyone will get a free month out of this, well the pets ideas are reasonable, but Tyhm brought that up and I'm not sure if upgrading his account is even neccesary o_O

My suggestions:
-flip options with forum locations
-merge the title graphic (vbulletin3_logo_white.gif) with options for the purpose of making the title graphic flow with the rest of the page.
-make the cells for the "post reply," "page 9 of 9" stuff equivalent with the thread width
-make sure the password change request works right away the next time you want to modify your forums (had a hard time remembering)
-try to sort out the junk at the bottom of the page... maybe posting rules to the left in the table which you post, the style thing in the profile, the forum jump should stay, the contact us should go at the absolute bottom, either above or below the copyright... As for time... that could probably fit anywhere... maybe at the top right?
-i am distasteful of the "quick reply icon"
-is that #123 stuff like the post number? That's a good idea, but I would put something like "Post Number: 123"... I just think there's something unfitting about using the # symbol in website designs.
-I haven't really had a chance to experiment around, but the one thing that I would really REALLY love... is a "quote highlighted text" button

DarkShadows_Legend 05-01-2004 11:56 PM

How about a chat room for VIP members?

thats for thread view, it set your reply to that post which you clicked it on. Click it, then click "Go Advanced" if you need the regular post layout

I don't mean the purpose of the icon, i mean the actual graphic for it.

Edit:
I want to add to my list of suggestions, for the options bar (User CP, FAQ, Members List, etc.), instead of having the text underlined when you put the mouse over it, I think it would be good to make a box around it.

WanDaMan 05-03-2004 06:49 PM

fix the pissed smiley, looky :pissed:

GoZelda 05-03-2004 07:34 PM

Fix the minimum character requirement.

jake13jake 05-03-2004 08:12 PM

A new idea, instead of "(reserved for gold and vip subscribers)" being in the forum title, why not put it in a disclaimer at the bottom of the page.... or something like that... It unsexifys the title-looking

ya that's good

jake13jake 05-03-2004 09:13 PM

yea, but i still definately think that my request for a button that quotes highlighted text is the best one so far.....

Tyhm 05-03-2004 11:10 PM

I agree on both: Quote Highlighted would be awesome (if difficult), and the title would be much more useful if it was shorter. Graal Forums - Reply to Topic instead if Graal Communication Center (res in my taskbar.

WanDaMan 05-04-2004 12:31 PM

The signiture line, if you have chosen center i.e
yohi this is in the center
make the line what seperates your sig from your post in the center to (only if they have used [center] some where in their sig..
if you understand me

Actually... I would honestly leave it... but the best compromise would be to expand the line across, i think.

Tyhm 05-04-2004 09:49 PM

Yeah, I don't see any sense in moving it. It marks the bottom of your post, not a part of your sig.
Lotsa people used to want it gone completely, but it's a sort of fixture nowadays.

WanDaMan 05-05-2004 12:27 PM

it'll look lame not being there... Make it bigger than? :p

woah... good idea, let's get rid of it and then make the line an OPTION! :D!!!

Tyhm 05-05-2004 09:46 PM

Perhaps. The line is sort of important. A conditional option would be good; if your signature starts with colored text, centered text, or an image with height greater than 8 pixels, then you can disable the line. Because it'd really suck to have to police people whose sigs were like "But then of course you have to consider...", because they'll have these kinds of posts:

I think Unixmad should give everyone in France a free cookie.
But then of course you have to consider the opinions of the Welshman; do they like tacos on tuesdays, or do they prefer burrito fridays? What exactly is a Welshman's inclination towards Taco Bell?

You see the problem, ya?

jake13jake 05-10-2004 03:45 PM

ehm, yea tyhm, that's hilarious though... How about even better: give the sigs their own table cell!

Tyhm 05-10-2004 09:06 PM

Yeah, that'd be bettar. Or just a HR or something, to seperate it from the post somehow without at the same time hogging up page real estate and also without at the same time seperating it so completely that it's no longer a sig...meh, I like the bar as it is. It grows on you.
