They was unixmad was talking is that they have been working on Graal3D for sometime now and it is far along in development. I am not sure if he is jsut blowing smoke to get people to sign-up or if he means it. I guess I'll find out considering I am a VIP :D .

Charles 12-22-2002 05:40 AM

ok. me have a few questions. I am sorry if some of them were answered in previous posts, but there were too many to read.

ok...
---
#1: With a VIP account, will we be able to play on Graal 3D for the duration of the account? (12 months assuming 12 month VIP is purchased)

#2: Will Graal 3D be online playable from start?

#3: Will Graal 3D make VIP account worth every penny?

#4: Will C++ version of Graal be playable online?(with just VIP account)
---

As yall can see, I am extreamly interested in Graal 3D. I checked out the demo way back when graal3d.com existed. I hope the new Graal3D is way better.

I might as well add another question:
#5: When graal 3d is officially released, will it have monthly fees just like the other 3D online games such as AC2 and Everquest?

thanks everyone

Yes, VIP is certainly good, but why are you people all subscribing to it now? All you can do is watch your VIP time dissapear while you wait for something to be made availiable for testing/news to be released, why not upgrade to VIP until AFTER the changes take effect.

Smartest thing you've said in a while :D

daboo 12-22-2002 08:10 AM

This whole VIP thing sounds great for a classic player such as myself, as I have very little interest in the gold servers, but I would still like to have access to the forums, and instead of getting unwanted gold servers, I'll get cool dev stuff instead.

My biggest question is, will my 12 months of forums, and Saturday only access to gold servers, and ability to make guilds start after my 3 months of graal gold is over, or will it start as soon as I pay for VIP? I need to wait till after Christmas, or birthday (2 weeks after Christmas) to have the money, but I'd rather wait to pay just prior to my gold account subscription being over if the stuff mentioned about isn't an add on to the current time I have. I realsize the time for stuff that isn't included in gold will start as soon as I pay, but it's not clear about the stuff I already have.

P.S. The new site looks great, and Merry Christmas! May the New Year be good to Graal, and to all of us. :D

Zurkiba 12-22-2002 04:23 PM

I ish a VIP now...
Am I the first?

tlf288 12-22-2002 04:37 PM

No, I got it yesterday.

Honestly, I think I was the first :), I now I was before Tlf guy. I have 363 days and 23 hours right now, at 10:40 EST. Anyways..

And Googi, I ordered it now because, well, I'm impatient. And what if Unixmad doesn't announce when things start happening on the forums? I'd be waiting forever. This way I'll get notified early, hopefully.

Spark910 12-22-2002 05:59 PM

The reason I have upgraded right now is...

1.) It will expire at a resonable time (Chrsitmas) as I know I will have some money to re-upgrade at this time next year

2.) When things are actually introduced [Someone make us a VIP Forum Hangout] I wont have to run around trying to pay for it when I know its there straight away.

I never thought of that! That's so true, now I'm even happier I got VIP now.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention Spark.

Googi 12-22-2002 06:02 PM

That's a good point. But you can always just "set aside" $19 of your Christmas money.

tlf288 12-22-2002 06:38 PM

In theory thats a good idea Googi. But with the way most people save their money I don't think it would work. Although I am better than I was unless I get my money to my bank it basically "burns a hole in my pocket."

Darlene159 12-22-2002 06:39 PM

This VIP sounds good to me though I wont buy it right now just to get previews, but it is good for me because I pay for gold every year, but I dont play the gold servers, I pay for gold to post on forums, and for guild access...this is a good alternative.

I am still a little confused on the pw renting though, lol

I don't think anyone understands it. Well, maybe unixmad does but I'm still not to sure about him either :).

TheFrozenFiend 12-22-2002 07:44 PM

I may have misunderstood this but here goes....

One of the "benefits" of VIP membership is for the VIP member to give YOU (Graal) ideas.
Why does that strike me as not right?
Anybody with half a brain can tell thats not a benefit.
Giving you ideas is helping you, so why is it a benefit to us that we have to pay to give you ideas?

Anybody who likes this is obviously not too clever.

What is really happening here is that this is a fancy way of saying the price has gone up.
Before somebody starts going on about it being optional then let me says this:
Correct. It is "optional". However, by not paying for this "optional" membership you are losing features.
Therefore you are getting less for your money and so once more, what I said is true: "this is a fancy way of saying the price has gone up."

tlf288 12-22-2002 07:55 PM

I have to say your about as wrong as you can be. This will effect no one. If you already have classic account then it doesn't hurt you at all. In fact it will help you so you can pay only 20 dollars to make guilds and play on gold server saturdays only for 1 year. If you have gold then when you buy it you get to access the special forums, get information about things before anyone else, beta test Graal3D, and get the 3D development tools.

So no options or features are taken from anyone. And VIP is totaly 'optional'.

Either almost all of you aren't quite clever enough to comprehend this or you just like complaining about things. If it is either of those then I feel sorry for you.

Gold Access has not changed.
Classic Access has not changed.
If you have Gold Access, you practically already have VIP Access - the only difference is VIPs get to see stuff first, like G3D.
If you have Classic Access, VIP Access is a cheaper form of Gold Access - you only get to play weekends.

IMHO, Platinum Access should be created. Five bucks a year more than Gold Access, it merges VIP and Gold. Five buck upgrade for Gold users, but I don't run this dog and pony show.

VIP primarily exists for Registered (Classic) but not Upgraded (Gold) players.

And curious and impatient people like me.

I have to have all the news first. I know patience is a virtue. But it is one virtue I don't have :).

I couldn't agree more :) But I also liked Loriel's idea about modular options.

Ok a cave man could understand this
Your playerworld attracts people to graal. Thered be a ratio of how many people play your server. People pay 15 dollers to subscribe because they want to keep their stats on your playerworld. The more people that play on your server creates virtual money and if you dont get up to your monthly virual money your server would probbialy be taken off the playerlist for improments so playerworld owners work more on their server to attract more people instead of lounging around PS: Your server would keep a ratio of about 50 cents per hour 1 person plays.

JrTerrorist 12-23-2002 05:42 AM

How much will it cost to:
A- Get a server online (fee)
B- Maintain a server monthly

Also, could we get setbacks if we advertise Graal on other websites?

I was talking about the price. Unixmad hasn't posted the exact price for PW renting.

JrTerrorist 12-23-2002 05:58 AM

It better not be too expensive.. :|

Questa 12-23-2002 06:00 AM

New version is out

Rushino 12-23-2002 06:12 AM

FINALLY the player world renting feature!!!!!!

Well what will be the cost and how it will work??

Just wonder..

tlf288 12-23-2002 06:26 AM

Questa: I can't get the setup.exe to work to get the new version. It keeps crashing.

Rushino: There has been about 100 posts about this already. No one knows for sure. But I am sure unixmad will tell us soon.

Yeah same here... I just noticed the version change on the main page. And the setup.exe almost worked for me once :(

Johnny_5 12-23-2002 06:41 AM

This VIP thing is pretty good. I run a linux computer and if getting a VIP account gets me the release quicker im all for it. And for server renting, who hosts the server ?

HI ALK :D

magicbud3344 12-23-2002 09:51 AM

correction, 20 bucks for 12 months silly philly

unixmad 12-23-2002 10:44 AM

Yes i agree with Tyhm with the Platinium subscription for gold players, if you take 1 year you should have the VIP access for only $5, the only problem is to not make the upgrade 2 confusing for players or parents that will pay !

We will work on that.
