Hey I have an idea let make Classic(the server not the whole section) trial friendly yep let them be able to save and what not. Oh but no they will notice there are more than Classic they would want more, they will pay to play more (p2pm :]) Or we could just not let them save and if they will be a loyal and good graalian they will stay even as a trial til they find a way to become p2p. Even if its begging, my friend Michelle became p2p because someone was kind enough to her EVEN THOUGH SHES A TRIAL, BECAUSE SHE WASNT STUPID.

Zideruic 05-22-2007 05:19 AM

I could post many views on this, the simple fact is, when we were trials, we couldn't use these forums, so all of your points say something about all of us were trials? Yeah most of us turned out ok without the help of the forums.

MKxTortoise 05-22-2007 06:30 AM

Moon Goddess's apparent point on babying the trials is ridiculous in that it by definition expects paying customers - that is, those who already have paid accounts - to cater to non-paying customers.

Do you not see how outrageous a claim this is?

I don't pay to play a game where I get to coddle new kids and show them the ropes. If that's your idea of fun, fine, but it's a bad idea to impose it on people who paid their 20 bucks to brutalize those around them.

Bingo. It's ironic that it is somehow the players faults for there not being a giant influx of new players, not the administration.

there should be a trial-only server tbqh

This isn't the way to treat potential paying customers.

I completely agree with Moon Goddess, but you seem to have got general courtesy confused with "babysitting". I have seen trial players asking for help, to receive a "Press Alt + F4 to ___", infact I've even seen it from the FAQ Administrator of Classic. Sure, one could argue that these said people should know that Alt and F4 is a universal shortcut for closing a program, but the fact remains that someone was asking for help and rather then giving it, a hellofalot of people just mock them.

It would be ideal if players treated Trial account players with the same respect as Classic, Gold or VIP accounts, but they're not and probably never will be. However, people have no reason not to help the new guy out a bit, it goes a long way.

There is a difference in babysitting, and just showing courtesy towards other people. Trials don't need babysitters, and I didn't say that, but they don't deserve to be treated like they have some sort of catchable, deadly disease either.

Exactly. Glad to see someone gets what I said. :)

I don't know about you guys, but, back in the days when I was a trial account - I used to read the forums almost everyday. The Small Guys are watching us.

Twinny 05-22-2007 01:33 PM

I didn't use the forums for ages...even when i got gold >_<. I believe I only originally joined to ask a scripting question :D

Well once you get to a point where it's just plain continued harassment to one person, I can see why staff should take action.

Why would I want to treate them any better than I treate classic/gold/vip people? Heh...

No, but I remember you from back then. Although, I don't think you used Gerami then? I don't remember by 100%..

Well, I was talking about those who treat trials differently then they treat people with paid accounts that have been around awhile. At least you don't discriminate. ;)

I joined to post my crappy swords.

Mykel 05-22-2007 09:43 PM

Wait, is Moonie complaining about people not helping trials after earlier in the thread agreeing that it was a horrible idea to let trials post here? Hm.

kia345 05-22-2007 10:11 PM

Someone's giving her money so she'll side with them.

There's USDing afoot.

I am complaining about the way some people treat trial members. That has nothing to do with the subscriptions that the administration provides.
Obviously trials should not have everything that paying members have, otherwise, why have the subscriptions?
Don't misunderstand what I am saying.

You don't play classic servers much do you?
I don't play Gold servers much, so I can't say what goes on there.

I've spent a fair amount of time on Zodiac, but what you're pretty much saying is that players frequently check each other's profiles and then considerably alter their behaviour based on what it says under "Upgradestatus".

Yes people check other people accounts before doing anything basically. When you are sparring someone or whatever you most likely check their hours, kills and what-not. Seeing a trial means you wated a good right click, I still say my idea to let trials have the server Classic for trial friendly would be so funny :] imagine a trial telling a p2p "what I own you on classic, get off my served. pwned."

OH AND BACK ON TOPIC

why make this forum public all you have to do is buy life-time classic. You will not have to buy anything else after that if you wanted to post no 8 hours wait or anything.

Mykel 05-22-2007 11:10 PM

Look at the Graal Online website. There is no tutorial at all. Brief descriptions of playerworlds that could be confusing to unknowing players are all that is offered. The teachings of the inner workings of the game is 100% the responsibility of the new player and/or other, more knowledgeable players.

Early-game confusion drives new players away, and constant nagging can result in an annoyance for established players. While it is nice for older players to embrace newbies and show them the ropes, it isn't their job. It is Graal Online's job. Personally, I don't think that keeping players is Graal's big problem, it is more so getting newer players.

That isn't what I am saying. A lot of new people, if they don't know the appropriate way to do things by some oldbies standards, mass questions, or ask questions in game, or post questions on the forums, and are made fun of. You can pretty much tell a new person from an older one.

I agree the Graal website needs a lot of work, and I agree that there needs to be good tutorials, and I also can agree that it can be irritating to be asked constant questions. I usually tell new players to ask a FAQ if they have a lot of questions. Really, I do see what you are saying, and I do agree, but you and I are not really talking about the same thing. I am talking about people who actually target new people for fun, not people who really don't want to help new players, and get frustrated.
It isn't their job, you are right, but some people are just rude and insulting for fun...actually more than just a few people are like that now a days, and it is in game and on the forums. More so on the game though.

Some people believe that all people should be able to post and not have to pay a dime for anything, ever. *shrugs*

MisterMastermind 05-22-2007 11:43 PM

Getting trials used to graal is the job of the FAQ's. All that's really needed is a notice to trials on every server telling them that FAQ members are there to help, and how to PM. I'd rather not waste time I paid for attempting to help some guy just trying the game out.

Zideruic 05-23-2007 01:02 AM

I remember on Graal2000 there was always that cave that told you the controls, told you about a lot of quests and i think it had a link or two to some helpful sites, I don't recall though.

BlueFireX 05-23-2007 03:30 AM

Ha I just went on UN for about 4 minutes went into the taylor and what do I see a trial with 3 hours. Someone walks up to him and say why are you playing you are a trial. The trial respond "well i'm not white so i dont spend money on crap" I come along and say "shut up k mate" he starts flaming me and I end up saying "I am mix what are you" he said "i m latino homes" so I say "huh homes? cant afford 39 bucks homes? Standing outside of homedeopt not getting you enough money homes" and pow since that trial was a friend to a ****** p2p and who is a friend of the GP i got jailed instant without a warning or the trial getting jailed. Why give them access to this forum when they can not even take the time to spell out 'you'.

You were also harassing him, and I'm pretty sure I can remember you being racially intolerant on more than one account on zodiac. You also escalated the harassment.

BlueFireX 05-23-2007 03:48 AM

he I never been a racist on zodiac infact the only thing i talked about on zodiac was either training, buying item or checking someone hat or head :P

Plus he was the one who started the insults i just told him to shut up

This is how every society operates and has nothing to do with account status, or even how long someone has been playing. It has to do with following the accepted mores/norms of the forum/Zodiac/UN/2K2 community, etc (since they vary from server to server to an extent). New players (who may or may not be trials) do not know them, but a person who knew them and chose not to follow them would be treated in much the same way.
