This conversation is going badly because we are using 'pk' to describe a million different types of pking.

One:
You get in a fight, you loose, you are pked.

fairly harmless

Two:
Some jerk thinks its funny to laming aura you at an altar or when you are reading PMs, you kill the fool when you learn who it was.

annoying but more or less harmless

Three:
Someone PKs you for drops for 3 hours straight. Well, they PK you because you pked their friend at the altar...

called you kinda brought it on yourself.


Four:
You didn't want to trade that flaming ice dagger, and the fellow who wants it gets pissed and makes your life hell by PKing you all the time saying 'I PWN U - SELL 2 MEH!'

Now, this is not harmless, and while is in breach of the EULA, it is hard to prove, because who really knows if it is #3 or #4.

In short, people sometimes are upset at getting PKed because they gambled and lost. They've Pked, and eventually, they tried to PK someone who outclassed them and got burned for it.

Others, get PKed for lowsy reasons, like they won't sell an item or someone hates their friend etc.


You can argue that in battlemode, anything goes, but I think that is a lazy approach. I think all elements in the game can be abused, from alchemy, to trading to bmode and if something falls into that category, then it is abuse or breach.

Sigh. Rape is a bit more complicated, and is a bit more of a violation of one's will, than being PKed.

It 'works' to you as it includes the fallacy of appealing to emotion. Using an emotive word such as rape to compare a behavior that one dislikes with in order to bring about a favorable result is inherently flawed. :)

Still you cannot identify this Analogy you claim exists, in no way was he comparing the two togather, rather the two as seprate instances, since someone (you even i believe) brought up the fact of harassment.

Mabye not, because i could care less if it appeals to emotion or not, some people are not as good with analogys as others, big deal, the fact is, at the core, the main analogy existed, and in this, was what he was looking for, i doubt he was using the word 'rape' as a keyhole to get in emotionally with everyone, this logic also, is flawed :)

I have three bits of advice for you:

1) Please learn when to use a comma (and when not to).
2) Don't contradict yourself.
3) Learn what an analogy is.

After reviewing these three, please: re-examine your post, decide what point you are attempting to make, and then work towards it. :)

You forget one thing. The difference between each situation is going into battlemode you know you have a chance of being PKed. In your analogy, going down that shortcut does not warn you of rape, so your analogy is flawed. :o

Going into battle mode WARNED you of PKers...so I don't see a reason to complain here at all.

Since I don't play GK but what I have observed here on how the gameplay is on GK then it is the responsiblity of the player to remain in Peaceful Mode if they do not want to be PK'ed. Harressment cannot be claimed if the player does not take steps on his/her own behalf to avoid "areas" or in this case "Battle Mode " on being PK'ed. If you are PK'ed in peaceful mode then that is different but from what I gather this is not possible so claiming harressment by being in Battle Mode instead Peaceful Mode , the fault is on the player because of improper mode they are in. If they don't understand the rules of the RP server then find out but to complain when it is clearly their own fault that this is happening will not fly.

And when you go into battle mode, you should know for a fact there are PKers out there.

As for the PKing, I'm going to have to side with the people saying that when you go into battle mode you can't cry harassment when you're PKed. I mean look at the name of the mode....battle.

You seem to be taking the apparent out of context, The analogy you claim exists, dosent. The one where he was trying to compare rape to PK? so therefore no contradiction exists, because his analogy exists, yours dosent.

He used his "rape" situation as a diffrent extreme to explain his point, it is not his fault you missed that. Also directly after making the assumption he said rape and pk are of the same level extremes.
