The manager is not the same either. We have Lance now, there used to be Kamuii, and Jeff, and possibly others (Stefan counts?) Anyway... So now we have Lance... Last time I checked... Lance was not Kamuii, or Jeff, or even Stefan!

But Lance aka Tseng has been the "manager" for a long time now and nothing good has happened besides Graal2001 going classic

GryffonDurime 12-05-2003 03:28 AM

Lance's Magical Good List!~~
Revived 2k1 to an extent
Helped in moving it to classic
Repealed quite a few of Jeff's mistakes
Fixed up the errors left in the wake of Jeff
Pruned out the inactive staff
Dev Server

Yeha, Lance has done ABSOLUTLY nothing.

No one plays because at the moment there is little reason to play. There is little reason because without people, ther can be no events. Kingdoms change all that. :D

Notice how all these things he's done are mainly behind the scenes? They have to get done before we can start adding new content or it's just going to suck... Show some gawt-dang gratitude.

There have been kingdoms.

And they were, for the most part, successful. Now people are hoping for bigger, better kingdoms. See? It all works out.

That's what we're hoping to give them... But nothing can be 100% certian... Ever.

They were sucessful until they started getting old. Nowadays nobody is going to RP unless there is all new ideas, etc.

Old generic 2001 and strict "RP OR U WILL B JAIL!" RPing won't work.

Also, people were never forced to RP. Punishment was only dealt for purposely disrupting an RP event, to my knowledge.

If you're going to be in a Kingdom on G2k1 you should RP, and if you don't follow the rules to make things fair, and fun for the majority of the players, then you should be punished... I don't know if jailing is always the answer, perhaps on certian occasions... But I think revoking kingdom privledges would suffice most of the time... Even if it was only for a period of time, as in, not forever.

Negative... you're reffering to 2k2 RPing which is just guilds with islands.

2k1 RPing will work because there are no levels.

Reminder: You don't need a super-fancy system in order to RP.

Lance 12-05-2003 05:03 AM

A few things:

1) Darenzo - I would advise a complete lobotomy. You'd be better off. Your posts in this thread are adequate bases for this statement.

2) Graal2001 never has been and never will be a "Copy Server." If anything, ideas have been copied from Graal2001 to other servers. The solution to Graal2001's problems is to tweak the amounts (both absolute and relative) of each element that makes Graal2001 what it is.

3) Yes, I've done a lot of behind-the-scenes work, as well as quite a bit in-front-of-the-scenes work, as has been listed already. I'm also attempting to do some more way-paving for a lot better things - I need to speak with Stefan and unixmad about screenshot-approving rights, so my news-posting powers will be more useful. Face it: News just isn't as cool without screenshots. When kingdoms come out, and the new quests, and etc, I want to have prettiful screenshots on the main page.

4) I've just hired a new scripter, and she will be assisting us with scripting. This now puts our "Good, Active Staff" count at about 5. We're still sorely lacking staff, but I refuse to settle for lesser-talented workers. Graal2001 has always had the highest standards - I will be maintaining them.

5) The issue of Unholy Nation has been brought up - UN maintains its high playercount solely because it has such an astronomically high playercount. People who start a game will usually check out the "most popular" server first, assuming it's better. If they find it to the least degree interesting, the inclination is to stay there and not do much exploring. Thus, the playercount is maintained, and the cycle repeats. It's the only viable explanation for how things work there. I have tentatively dubbed it "The cycle of newbies," for one trek to Unholy Nation will subject you to the most hellacious assault by newbies you ever did see. Note the relations in names, the fake guilds who believe themselves to be real guilds, the positions people give themselves in names, etc.

6) RPing - RPing will not be 'required', but it will still be against the rules to interfere with those who ARE RPing.

Extremely strict rules? No? Darn it....

By 'RPing will not be "required"', I mean that joining a kingdom isn't mandatory. Joining a kingdom == RPing. :)

The extremely strict rules can govern how the kingdoms operate.

Neither needed nor wanted, as for the lobotomy, what would they cut out?

Nerves to and from the frontal lobe of the brain.

Wanted or not, they are my opinion, and I'm sticking to them.

Normally they would heat up a metal rod then insert it into the patient's temple, then squrim it around a bit to destroy the part of the brain in that area.

The point being what could they remove/destroy from Darenzo's cranial cavity.

i thought they took a cork screw type rod and put it thorugh the forehead.

Perhaps, I suppose it would do the same thing... But I think that the heated pipe would be more 'humane' even by the least.

i don't think you have to be humane when you do that kind of stuff. especially back in first half of the 1900s when this was popular.

I didnt say it was humane... I said using a heated pipe would be slightly more humane than using a corkscrew...

So like, if using a corkscrew was around -193 on the humane level, a heated pipe might be -186...

ok, should i had said it doesn't matter how humane you were back then? either way it means the same thing really.

Amagius 12-07-2003 03:45 AM

Lobotomies weren't all that bad. They were used on crazy people and shell shocked. Wow.

haunter 12-07-2003 03:48 AM

I'd rather be dead than be a vegetable.

MrCharles 12-07-2003 04:18 AM

no no no you all have it wrong. fpr a lobotnmy you lay your head down in this brick and then they pull out a huge hammer and bash your legs until you are knocked out form the horrible pain. then they insert an EXTREMLEY COLD rod in through your left nosltril until they reach your brain and they pinpoint the exact right part... and then bash your head there with a huge metal stick
