You know what would be nice? If you could log into Graal Kingdoms in either 3d or 2d mode (not at same time though) and changes will be saved and can be loaded with the other version.
Just adds 2 ways of playing Graal Kingdoms. |

People will find strange the movement of 3D people to 2D ones and vice versa, I can't even begin to say how bemusing combat will be between 2D and 3D people... |

Lots of people upgrading to VIP by the looks of it.
And I think kingdoms3d should be a seperate server not joined, |
OMG!!!!!! NEW GRAAL 3D LOOKS INSANE!!!!!!!! (Lucky i got a vip membership =p ) When it comes outs its gonna be awesome
|
Looks fantastic! Hopefully there are controls for adjusting the 3D stuff especially for low-end users with crappy video cards or for anyone in general :)
I'm hoping very much that it plays similar to Zelda64. I can't see it working very much any other way other than standard FPS style using 10-key for controls and mouse for looking and attacking. Either way would probably get the job done pretty easily. The dev tools are what I'm waiting for :) |
I'd say there has to be alot going towards game play if graal3D is going to end up being any good. Right now graal itself dosent have very good gameplay its basicly kill and run, maybe being able to snipe people (with arrows) and attack convoys would be preety nice :)
Making things more "interactive" would be nice... like maybe having little town meetings and arranging armies and stuff... that would be so awsome... having major wars and stuff like LOTR type wars lol |
They'll be so busy making Graal3D "decent" that everything else will be forgotten

Extremely simple (i.e. crude) models for all characters and ship top-of-the-line graphics cards to all the players, more like it. I haven't seen LOTR, but is the battle of Helm's Deep the one in Two Towers where thousands of folks are killing each other? If so, to get something like that you'd need the characters to have less polys than anything on N64, maybe even stick figures, and even then everyone would need a GeForce FX and it isn't even out until next month. |
You wouldnt really need that many players for a war to look massive in a 3d game. I mean if you had about a 100 people in one area 50 on each team. It would seem like a massive army with all the chaos of players charging each other and I tell you when you're fighting 50 other players in 3d it's crazy especially when you cant see who is at your back and praying to god that one of your own guild members is behind you and not a rogue from the other team getting ready to back stab you. ;x Last time that happened I ran with 3 guys after me and I got lost and died. ;x My whole point is you dont need thousands for it to be exciting. :) With even 20 on each team it would be equally thrilling.
|
Ofcourse...
I mean just think of two 20 people teams on classic or some other 2d server. That would be totaly massive. Now imagine that being in a 3d world. I may be wrong but that would be even more massive and thrilling. |

It looks like it'll have high requirements, and it looks like it might be pretty expensive, so Id guess the average amount of players on it will be 50.

Like when a new PW comes out. Isnt there ussually about 120 on for 3 days? Thats because its new... |
All I know, is that I strongly dislike first-person perspectives. Because they really aren't first person. It's like gluing a box to some goggles and looking through it. You have no side view and no view of what is happening behind you. While in real life, you can usually tell when someone is behind you. I prefer the 3rd person look, generally scaled down a bit so you can see a good bit behind the player. Then you can tell what is going on all around you, and better judge where you are.
I mean sure there is strafing and you can just turn the mouse to look behind you, but you will always be blindsided on 3 sides which I can't truely say is very fair. |

My 2 cents
Ive been with Graal for a long time not as long as some of you but long none the less, and I feel my opinion is as important as the lot of you so, here it is..
First off I must say that the graphics are outstanding however, it is a complete departure from the norm. of graal which -is- cartoony which -is- alot of the reason people play graal for all of you that have said "I like realistic and hate cartoony" why are you playing Graal? its like the most unrealistic thing I personally have ever seen! Rabbits are as big as you are! Secondly, whoever said Zelda 64 graphics were bad.. obviously when God was handing out eyes, you thought He said pies, and replied you were not hungry. Zelda 64's graphics style is very good with a reasonable frame rate that I feel would still allow player customization of things.. if it gets too detailed players will not be able to customize graphics and submit them anymore, thus getting rid of a very important aspect of this game. Me personally, I feel simple but not too simple is in demand, obviously the player base of Graal does not have top notch computers because they have no real need for them, some do however and choose to play Graal for the cartoonish appeal and battle factor that NO other game has( that I can think of other than a select few that really do not need to be called out because they aren' t good at all). Back on graphics.. too detailed will not allow alot of customizing and too many polygons will lower frame rate for slower computers. For it to be cartoonish in a way is a major plus in my book and most of Graal if you prefere realistic again.. go play Counter-Strike or Asheron's Call and stop trying to turn Graal into "another run o' the mill mmorpg" Third Controls need to have Joystick support whoever said that I agree completely I love the joystick/gamepad support It makes this into a console computer game thats mmorpg with awesome playability. Fourth, view-point needs to be 3rd person (my opinion) with which you go 1st person by a press of a button to look around or when you are about to shoot a linear attack. (fireball/arrow etc.) Please keep it rpg-esque all RPG's suck that are first person.. all of them(my opinion). Fifth, anyone complaining about monetary problems need to shut their pie-hole you know nothing about how much it costs to run servers, pay a few staff members, or conduct the amount of time consumption programming takes with organizing a project as big as Graal is. Twenty U.S. dollars a year is not a big hassle for VIP. Don't buy that next big game instead get Graal I mean you probably spend alot of hours on it anyway enough to warrant 20 dollars. It is a Product and as it stands now you are consumers, meaning you are consuming so with that equation the answer is Money is needed to keep it running if no one payed any money Graal would still be where it was back in 1998 where you would go to that "angel cloud" and go and give all that money to that carpet to get a new heart or that first gnome quest which was horrid (but not as bad as Krakkens the hardest darn thing ive ever seen in my life). So I would gladly pay my money for a game that's better than that. Sixth, I don't like alot of you but some of you are respectable, mainly that Insane Carrot guy(?), and a few others. I think Unixmad should listen to the more experienced players than the "lamers" that post stuff like: "duhhh.. what's vip I don't get it, but I know I don't like Graal3D if you open it im leaving forever and im going to kill myself because im a loser duhhhh"(this is what get's through if the answer is found not only in the forum by the search command but on that THREAD) **I know this is a long post but basically it states everything I would put here on this post ever anyone who objects to what I wrote I will hand them some lipstick so they can pucker up and kiss my rosy red butt because I don't care and im not posting on this thread anymore unless someone says something important **Basically, as well if you feel something I wrote offended you or hurt your feelings because it makes you feel dumb.. well it is probably because you are and.. if the shoe fits wear it **For the lot of you here is some advice before posting before reading everything up to this point: "It is better to quietly appear stupid than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt." **Thank you for reading this if you took the time to do so. I may have mispelled flaming me because of that is childish as if you never have mispelled a word. |

also having a game that looks like zelda 64 would be awsome if it were an mmorpg :) btw, a 1ghz computer can more than handle what zelda 64 puts out... |

First off, the reason I play Graal is not the Zelda nostalgia factor, as I never played Zelda. I play Graal for the creative aspect - it is easier to get your content where hundreds will see it than with Neverwinter Nights.
Second off, Zelda 64 (judging from screenshots found on google) is lacking in model quality by modern standards. While it may have been something in its day, the people who want Graal to look like that probably don't realize how much 3D has improved. Third off, a heck of a lot of Graal people yammer on about Counter Strike and Half Life and all those. If people can handle those, they can probably handle a Graal 3D that doesn't look like a several-year-old game for a retired console. I was able to get Neverwinter Nights with most of the options to run on my 500 MHz Pentium III machine with a 32mb TNT2. And it looke pretty good. I'd imagine that most people on Graal 2002 (a bit of a hog in its own right, I think) have a computer about that good or better. Perhaps there should be a Quality slider with support for multiple depths, though that'd probably be a bit tricky to work into the engine... |
This looks like some cliche 1st person shooter, and i am not in ANY way interested in ever playing it.
Graal is Graal, you dont go changing that! =\ |

Why can't any of these new MMORPG high-tech gfx manage to pull off something that looks artsy, medival, and fun? Okay, so one can. See Final Fantasy 11 :D |
I think you should go with the same idea as the original Graal3D.
No, not the same graphics, but you should make the players look like the players do on Kingdoms. The houses, I think, should also look alike to their looks on Graal Kingdoms. Trust me, this is what players want. this would actually make ME like it, and I am known to dislike most of the new things I see in Graal |
I dont much care for 3D games.... only 3D game i care for playing is CS and thats a rarity ... why? 3D requires higher system requirements... and most 3D games charge more... so if graal goes 3D i surely wont pay for it i like graal for its speed and min. sys requirements.

So when are we actually going to get to start testing this thing out?

Make a more advanced window.
Like buttons on the bottom. Showing a button to inventory, the inventory will show a picture of you. And below it will be items. When you wield an armor it will show on that mini paper doll of u in inventory. Make the chat window a LOG chat. A bar on the bottom. |
