It seems like it.. that one thread about 2230 sounded like stefan wanted to be owner of the server or something.. since birdbird is like attached to stefans waist, I'm sure it will go up without a second thought.

NPCs are easy, all you have to do is think about what you want and then think about how to do it. Human brains are built up around the idea of deciding how to do things, splitting them into tasks etc and I just channel that into a computer. Heck, you don't even need to think in any more than one dimension. But art... Art's a weird thing. From the outside looking in, it seems so difficult, and yet there are more good artists than scripters. :confused:

And hence the reason why we have bad servers...not that that servers gonna be bad, just the fact that Stefan puts servers up which aren't ready...I'm expect that is what will happen with 2230.

I may be proven wrong though...but for some reason I doubt it...

Its not the thinking type thing which is hard..the only block for me in scripting would be the mathematical stuff...everything else is easy. As I get more advanced math, more mathematically complicated scripts, making more efficient scripts, the scripts will improve...

Konidias, I have an idea.. You should make it so the characters hair grows by time.. and when it gets too long you have to go get it cut or something.

And you could get your hair cut in different ways like spikey hair or just flat hair, or curly hair...

It might be neat to have short hair at first, and maybe somehow you can pick a design that you want it to grow out into.. of course it might be too much of a bother.. I mean, what if you never cut your characters hair? I surely won't make sprites for hair past their feet :p

Maybe it can be like a customizable apple tree? Like for example, it's small/short at first, you pick what you want it to look like when grown, and then it grows to that style.. then you can get it cut again, and pick a different style to grow it out to if you want.. that could probably work.. would need about 3 different hair lengths for each hair style though..

No... I'm trying to stick to one time period.. you could get some clothes and make it kinda look like that, but for one, there won't be shorts.. I don't remember shorts during the midieval time. :D

There will be a variety of shirts, pants, shoes, jackets, belts, hats, and other accessories.. so I don't think it will be a problem finding a look for your character. :)

Sounds great, but how do you get in all that with only 5 gani attributes?

Well I hope that is one of the additions Stefan will be making in the next update.. If he doesn't I'm going to have to wait until he does.. since using attributes is like the best possible way for having all those different images and not have a lot of lag.

There will be more races to choose from besides elf and human.. but the races won't change too dramatically... I was going to have Ogre's as a race (go around as a big guy with a club) but then I thought about gameplay and it wouldn't work because the guys wouldn't fit through doors.. So ogres will now be enemies ;)

I don't want to release any info on the other races, I can let you know that there will be about 3-5 races to pick from, and you can't be the bear creature race, they are a villager type. :)

At the moment I'm doing everything.. birdbird made like one character graphic front view and hasn't done much else, and vermain and kamuii were supposed to be helping with ideas but they never message me anything so I guess they don't want to be involved in it or something. I'm all alone at the moment..

I'm still waiting on Stefan's response about the new tileset idea I told him about.. if he uses that then I will be able to start constructing the tileset properly and then I can hire some people to help make levels. Right now I wouldn't mind having some graphic and npc help, but most the people that ask for a position have no skill and just want to see private stuff. :/

Like I get someone wanting to be on the graphics team, and they want to see all the oasis graphics.. It's like.. I want to see YOUR graphics, not show you all of mine. :rolleyes:

It's risky business hiring strangers because they can have evil intentions.. people wonder why friends of staff get hired, that is why.. Would you rather hire someone you know well, to trust with all your ideas and graphics, or some complete stranger?

Either way, I'm making good progress on the graphics and tileset.. I give it about another week before I get started on the world itself. I have a lot of graphics to make. I always hear people saying that all the planning just delays your server construction more and makes it have less of a chance of ever getting finished.. but really, if I have a completely new tileset, all the graphics I need, and tons of ideas written down, when I finally start making levels and things, it will all be there for me to use. ;)

Ehh.. I can't give a positive release date.. I'm hoping to have it up and running around end of March, beginning of April.

So.. about 2-3 months.. if I work hard :D

I'll probably be doing most everything myself though, so it will take more time.. I just can't find anyone worth what they say. Most people are so focused about getting RC or staff toys, or just being on Oasis staff that they forget they have no skill in making graphics, levels, and npcs. :(

I always get people that say "well I'm kinda good with levels, and I can do really basic graphics.. oh and I'm a good admin!" :rolleyes:
