I think Gonmon did an excellent job. Nothing can be perfect, but you can at least strive for excellence with the best of your abilities.

evilive 08-13-2001 09:51 AM

G-Yoshi is my new best friend :)

Any ways, can any one teach me to make:

the tiles apear darker (Like the underground cave)
and fog.

Rekad 08-13-2001 09:53 AM

I dont like Lighting effects.

Asmodeus-James 08-13-2001 09:55 AM

Err, I didn't look at the last 2. Those arent very good, they could use way more work.

I'll have Birdbird talk to you. I know he can tell you how to do that stuff, or at least some of it. I'd tell you myself if I knew, but I don't, so I'll just tell Birdbird next time he calls me.

Murasamune and Zalactic Labs are completely different subjects. Murasamune is a playerworld with it's own tileset being worked on by a group of people while Zalactic Labs is a quest-type thing being worked on by one person. Expect differences.

Sorry if I seemed so serious, I just haven't been in much of a joking mood for the past few days.

Zal labs is also a sidescroller... much much much different than Masamune... plus, I couldn't implement a new tile set.

Oh yeah, here's a new screen shot of the Bomy Planet part :) It's coolies... and it'll freature (Once I get some scripters....) some cool Bomy Planet (Still thinking of name) creatures... such as the omnibat and the Turtie and many others :)

kyle0654 08-13-2001 10:39 AM

fog: either use a lot of cloudy lights at like .4 alpha or something, or try doing this:

seteffect .35,.35,.45,.5;

The higher the last number is (alpha) the more gray it will appear (you could do smoke probably)

Allready done, Kyle!

BTW! here's a look as to what the 4th screen shot looks like with fog. Much better I'd say :)

Hmm. It looks rather nice. I'd prefer a more gray fog look as opposed to a darker, more gloomy fog look, but I guess I'm a bit partial to the thick kind of gray fog you see up on mountaintops. But it looks good, I like it.

That's mainly because it's mixed with some different tiles. Well, on the more begining levels, it's more of a grey fog :)

I see. So as you go deeper, the fog gets darker along with the lighting, etc.?

Gonmon I wouldn't mind helping you out in it...I'm a master with rock/cliff/mine like tiles, and light effects. Hehe just take a look at this screenshot from a mine I'm working on...no this isn't to try any implement my server into this thread, I simple want to help :)

This is not a to impressive shot, it just shows some light effects and some nice tiles...

evilive 08-13-2001 12:31 PM

well, guess what! That's completely differnt! that' got a different tile set and plus, it's not in a sidescrolling environment.

I might make a new tile set later on.

*says with Kyle from southpark voice* OH MY GOD!!!!
Dude, I love the wall tiles, although the light effects could be a tad bit smaller. As for the body sprites, is that a new race?
Because I made a new race(finally after kyle helped me with one stupid stupid stupid thing I couldn't figure out on my own), and I need to mess around with the onwall a bit to make it look better.
Although the basic body image looks like this:
www.geocities.com/jeromrooks/jerom2.gif
Thats the older looking version of the jerom1.gif image =)

<edit> ok, i found out that when you click on the link for the image, it opens in a different window and Geocities doesn't want to think it exists. It's best to copy the link in text, then paste it into your address bar, then click enter, you can see it that way if you're having the same Geocities problem I'm having. </edit>

Hey i am cool 08-13-2001 12:47 PM

hey.

Tyhm 08-15-2001 04:54 PM

Different lighting effects. Have gemstones glittering, instead of invisible colored-light sources for no apparent reason.

wetferret1 08-15-2001 05:01 PM

cool! I think they should make street lights for graal! like have big polls! and they should be ghetto like sometime's fliccer lol!

konidias 08-15-2001 07:57 PM

Gonmon, make sure the lights "move" like set their radius randomly in a loop so that they kind of expand and shrink.. like the underground lake has its lights. That would make it feel more like moving lava and what not.

Hmm yeah I guess...

Not to mention if I made a side scrolling envirement tileset, it would not look like something for graal...it would look like something for Super Metroid or symphony of night :D
