Lack of events happening again.

Hoping to bring this to somebody's attention so perhaps they'll CARE.

Today there was this event that wasn't even called an event. Maroku made a "quest". Oh yes. His idea of a quest was to kill his spawned monsters until they were no more. I miss Musical Chairs, Waterglass, you know... the ones that take no effort to host?

I'll take blame for this one. I haven't been on recently, and I apologize. I visited the girlfriend last weekend. When I came back to my Apartment, I found that one of my friends had just learned how to Torrent. So he decided to try downloading 3 movies, AutoDesk Inventor 10, and some Motorola Walkie-Talkie program. All at the same time. Comcast noticed, throttled my bandwidth. Then my wireless router crapped out on itself, due to him trying to pull so much from it. So that took me a week to fix due to work and school. But I am back now, so expect more hosting :). Maroku told me he also was busy and wasn't able to put time in. Life does happen, so I hope you all understand. But do expect more! :). Sorry about the inconvenience.

You should not have to take blame for this. I'll look at the head honcho. Maroku needs to hire more than one guy (In this instance, Zeltino). Sure Drakeero hosts too but not those cute little lame events that we all enjoy.

kia345 02-07-2009 04:41 AM

Rehire me and Pat. Events haven't been fun since our daily "20 events-a-day extravaganzas".

Feel free to replace Events with any organization we've been part of, they all could benefit.

Tigairius 02-07-2009 04:42 AM

We've been aware of this problem. I think Maroku is going to seek out more EM help.

kia345 02-07-2009 04:45 AM

Maroku is part of the problem. He never hosts, and when he does, it's the same poorly planned/written out event.

You should have already known this Tig...

These things are not as black and white as people like to make them. You can point the finger, it's easy. Understanding is a little harder.

Maroku has historically been active and dedicated - for a few years now. He's been able to adjust to changes and follow new protocols we've specified to help prevent any sort of nonconformances.

If it was found that any specific individual within our team was responsible for a problem, regardless of considerations and responsibilities, it's always difficult to replace a trained, experienced staff member. This is especially true with volunteers. Understanding is the key here and it needs to be applied.

Googi 02-07-2009 07:53 AM

It would be good if kingdoms could step in to fill the event void. The problem is that it's difficult for any single kingdom to get enough players on to have a decent event. Maybe there could be something like an agreement between all the kingdoms where each kingdom puts up an equal amount of money (or prizes of equivalent value) to host events that members of any kingdom (but only people who are members of a kingdom) would be allowed to participate in.

If anyone is interested in being an EM, please do speak up. If you are seriously interested, Forum PM me or Contact me in-game. It's obvious we need more EM's, and it would be great to see players interested in seriously taking up a position(s) as EM.

xXziroXx 02-07-2009 02:12 PM

So how come there hasn't been any input at all in this thread for 30 days by the Events Admin himself? One would think this thread is very much his turf.

We (Pat and myself) mention it to Maroku every day he's on (about twice a month) that we're more than willing to host for him again, all he needs to do is supply the tags and a small amount of prizes, half the time we used our own items. He refuses every time. It's clear that he thinks he has things under control.

I normally don't agree with you but your right on this. He does think he has it under control OR he has no time right now OR he doesn't want to rehire you two.

I do not want to be an Events Master again. I've had enough solid tenures. However, I do support the fact that PoJo would probably play a lot more than he already does if he had a tag and the ability to host. Me and PoJo used to give out our own items because the refills stopped us from hosting as much as we wanted.

It is hard to add Em´s for Graal Kingdoms but if i find anyone able to host for GK i try to add him.

It is easy to abuse rights so we need trust from all current ems and new em´s if we add rights etc.We have logs but i dont look into them each day (only if something happened and got reported). but the fact is if something happens , it happened.

I dont like to Rehire Em´s cuz then it looks they lost intrest from the last time beeing hired and it wont change atall. (but its not impossible to get rehired if we really lack of activity). And its way easyer to rehire if i know he hosted very good and had much contact with me.

Personally i dont really like to host things like Waterglass,Musical Chairs etc cuz i dont need my creativity for it. I love my job cuz i can use my creativity alone or i share it with my team.

Im sure we will fix the lack of events soon by hiring more active players or adding more content to graal kingdoms

There kind of doesn't need to be more events... The player count is so low all it'll do is flood more EC's than needed into the economy.

I think enough EC's are handed out daily, and whoever spoke of a 20-ec-a-day extravaganza, stfu.

Maroku's quest has been a breath of fresh air, sure, i miss the old events but it's not even been a week since i last played one, you're acting as if it's a year down the line and Maroku's been only hosting these quests... :noob:

I actually miss hosting to be honest. I've been playing with ideas to pass onto maroku just to try out.

Our awesome event marathons had only a few ECs, it was mostly things like RoTs and Ice Shields and FIDs that Pat and myself had of our own, Maroku couldn't supply prizes. u stfu, it was something to do that everyone could be involved in.

The playercount was 30-40 during me and Pat's time. I'm not saying it was because of us there was a high playercount (probably was though, just saying), but because of the almost constant events and things to do, people were more likely to log on spread around the EC and other prizes.

These mediocre "quests" that are the same every few weeks are the only ones that get hosted. Zelt is rarely on, but that shouldn't be a problem, we have more EMs. Maroku is inactive. Ok, not good, but we have more EMs, right? No, we don't. No one is active, and when they are, it's maybe 2 events a week and then "big" event once every few weeks, and the "big" event is just the same as the last one. Our EMs suck, our Event Admin sucks.

We surprisingly have Raz online hosting now, but this is most likely just a fad and will not happen again for several days. I called it.

You can preach it exists but there is no event problem. Events are hosted every day, EC's are handed out every day. The big events are **** but thats about it.

It appears your own playtime conflicts with the EM's playtime, we are getting events.

This is actually a huge possiblity. I have seen this all too often.

cyan3 02-08-2009 11:44 PM

I can spare an event coin or 2 so I'll probably host an unofficial event next week.

It's been done in the past but most players didn't attend to them.

Nature2 02-09-2009 05:40 PM

from kia345: Maroku is inactive. Ok, not good

I am NOT inacitve, or better lets ask what is inactivity for you.

I am Events Admin so i have much more to do then only hosting.
And i also do things that i dont have to do for GK but i do them to get things done got gk.

Oh yes, i have a REAL LIFE thats more importand then a game.

But i still offer 6 Hours for you to host Holy Knight (for example)

And well if i host its harder then normal, and i never host events again and again, i always use my rights/creativity to try making a nice entertainment.

Let me interrupt while Maroku pulls his foot out of his mouth. Maroku has not been as active as he usually is - however he has his own personal reason. Events have suffered on GK as a result of his absence, which only goes to show how much of an asset he is.

After his recent attention I'm sure he'll make an extra effort to put some more time in - but as I've already explained we shouldn't scold him or any other staff member we have a problem with. He's a volunteer and clearly an asset.

I'm also sure he has good reasons not to rehire you, PoJo. If you feel his reasons are unfair you can contact me or Tigairius... we'll take both sides of the story and make a decision.

Lack of events is something of a unique problem in that you can often actually go quite a ways towards solving it simply by posting a thread about it.

It's not so much as I want him to rehire me, it's that I want active EMs.
