I have to say Abraham was the most successful prophet. I mean, he has Jews, Christians, and Muslims.

I don't believe you understand what fundamentalism is, it doesn't describe anything Angel_Light said. I believe you are confused with Evangelical Christians, which is different. Evangelical Christians are not even close to a majority, not even a plurality in the United States. You hear about them more because that is what the media focuses on. Their political association is the Republican party, "their" candidate during the primary hardly got any delegates. I am starting to get tired of these arguments. Lets talk about Sweden's exports some more.

Edgy atheists are not rabidly trying to pass legislation that would ruin the life of their Christian neighbours.

'hi let's remove "one nation, under god" from the pledge of allegiance because it offends me'

Pushy athei****s are just as bad as pushy Christians. Sometimes even worse, because their rambling is usually based around "I'm right, you're wrong".

That's not usually from atheists, it's from non-Christians like Jewish people. I'm atheist and I love Christmas.

It's not just the Christians that are annoying.

Why did everyone say the bear they hunted down and killed was named god. and why was it pulled away from the general public and whatnot.

@Crono
People have tried to get every reference to god removed from our society they try to get bills passed, and laws but the supreme court goes "NOWAI U SUK GOODBAI" and then the other person goes "NUUUU *slash wrist**die of blood loss*" I think everyone should just leave everyone alone.

... what? I am pretty sure there is no scene in which a bear gets hunted down and killed, and I am absolutely, entirely sure that there is no bear named god. Please elaborate.

CharlieM 12-27-2008 11:29 PM

Thats what I was told..

The triliogy it was based on had a war against god that was considered a false diety in the book.

The Golden Compass is the first book, not the trilogy.

The trilogy is based on the story of two children growing up, not the war against god.

The war is not against god, but against an ursurper who is abusing his position to opress countless billions of people.

CharlieM 12-27-2008 11:59 PM

Loriel I encourage you to look up what the Golden Compass is based off of, The Golden Compass book was based off of another triliogy of books, where god was fought. Some people placed it together that the same things happend with different names. I really don't care about it I've never seen it and don't plan on ever seeing it.

I read the books. You did not. I know what they are about. You do not.

Stop trying to prove your retarded point with a series of children's books you did not even read.

Nataxo 12-28-2008 05:48 AM

Loriel, I think the book was kinda based on what aeko sed. Or at least the author wanted to make some sort of refference without making it obvious. I didn't read the book but on the movie it was preety obvious.

What I can think of is that we got different perspectives of this...normally.

The Golden Compass is the first novel in English novelist Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy. I read the books over again about two months ago and can assure you that the plot does not center around killing God.

As for your tantrum on what it is based off of, I believe what you are referring to is Peter Hitchens's opinion that the Materials series is a direct rebuttal of C. S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia series.

Which is just an opinion.

Until you've read the books, or at least seen the awful movie, don't post about them.

I think he was talking about how the movie The Golden Compass is based on the Dark Materials trilogy.

Of course we have different perspectives, this is because some of us actually read the books and some did not!

okay, in 'the golden compass' (i went to see the movie), a guy was telling the kids a story about how 'the almighty one' that made and ruled the earth was evil and just wanted death upon everyone so a bunch of guys teamed up and killed 'the almighty one'. so all of the kids in the movie have little demons that follow them around, but the demons are 'good', and how they should be against 'the almighty one' but be for the demons.

No, a false god. Gonna have some spoilers from the books. The Authority is a character in the books that claims to be god, but isn't. The demons that are referred to, are beings that where created the same way as The Authority. Once they discovered that they had been lied to, they rebelled, and were labeled as demons. It is important to note that the story spans over several dimensions.
