I would totally play a game that looked like that but with full animation (legs moving to walk; not characters jumping around squares on a grid like RPGWO or Crossfire) Edit: But your Graal port of Pokemon sounds badass and is looking cool. |
lulz, it ain't pokemon. I was giving thesmoothcriminal a hard time.
Considering making multiple versions for the various flavors of Purist. So you can just set the slider for how good/oldschool you want your graphics, but still play on the same level set... |
I'd say my roguelike guess was it. :whatever:

*shrugs* I can always put a slider on to control oldschool vs. shiny graphics. It worked for Graalympus, and I wasn't even trying to alter what players saw each other as then. Bwaha.

Totally. The retro games had a certain charm that transcends simple Nostalgia. Some games really were only good because we had no other options - A lot of Nintendo Hard games kept us coming back for more because we couldn't just trade it in for a better game - but a lot of them stand up well even in this modern age of Everything's a 3D MMORPG.
We ought to learn from our ancestors if we're going to beat the big-budget games. Go back to the day when games were made by one programmer between projects to teach himself how to code for Windows instead of DOS... |
