The whole gold/playerworld server categories seem to be a problem and in my opinion they're very dated now. The server list would probably appear better if it was split into "Official Servers" and "Playerworlds" rather than the confusing system we have now. The two current servers are just not worth the extra money, and possibly never will be. If Classic staff bucked their ideas up, or was taken over by someone with a little more talent, that could get moved under the official title too, as should Graal2001/Bomy Island when it is released as that's what they always were.

If you take a look at other games on the market, you always have official projects split from the player-made projects, and the official projects usually gain more players because they're official -- that, and they're usually better made than the unofficial projects of course. Gold simply isn't worth paying for these days, because the gold servers are dead and kind of suck. If the server list was split a little more professionally, and the "gold" subscription was changed or maybe even removed for that matter, then perhaps the official projects would get more players. Of course, the official worlds would need some serious fixing up though, I just feel as though as it stands the server list setup isn't working in general.

sounds good about what I was saying

I'd rather 5 Gk players that act like the current serious players than 100 that act like the trash from Era and Zone.

Trial is annoying and really breaks the true feeling a player could get from playing on a server. If you give just a free weekend every once in a while, players will get a chance to continually play and get really involved in GK--undisturbed. Once it's over, if they've dedicated enough time to the character over the weekend they may be intrigued to buy a subscription.
All observer does is give them a chance to check out what it's like... but it's too annoying to really get a chance to see how it is to actually play.

Yay, staff-supported USDing!

I thought GK USD anyway, unofficially. The difference is now its official, not much of a change.

Also, moving Gold Servers to Classic for a few selected weekends would be a next idea though, that way subscriptions are still fine, and it just gives some players a chance to play, but make it so Gold, and Classic work on it for those selected days, in-case they only bought Kingdoms gold or something.

kia345 04-09-2008 02:19 AM

It was illegal before, and it's better that way.

agreed

CABAL49 04-09-2008 04:54 AM

USDing is a serious problem on GK, there is no denying that. But the Xmas package could be considered staff supported legal USDing.

The idea that Kingdoms should go to Classic status for a temporary amount of time has been brought up before. Several times. Considering my Gold has run out I would like this, but Trial mode does turn people away. There will be people that most of us definitely will not like. I don't think that Kingdoms is too attractive to the Zone/Era community, guns and swords don't mix well. I do think that we would get a lot of people from Zodiac, which is not so different from Kingdoms in style of play.

Darklux 04-09-2008 12:58 PM

The game needs substancial gameplay and economic fixes/rebalances, bundled up with features and fun.

I can't see any reason why it should be made classic, as the trial mode already offers nearly all available features and a good sight into the game.

Ravenblade1979 04-09-2008 06:04 PM

Most people who don't play the server say its hard to get into.

DustyPorViva 04-09-2008 08:33 PM

Should make more main islands. Like huge ones with more towns and dungeons and all.

Elizabeth 04-09-2008 09:11 PM

gks going to slowly go downhill, until it has an active playercount of 1 - and that being the npc server..
there's no saving gk now!

Because they, der, don't play. If you're actually intent on playing Gk, it's easy to hit a few levels, make some friends, and join a kingdom.

DustyPorViva 04-10-2008 12:58 AM

It took me a while to get to level 10 and I was given some nice weapons. :/

James 04-10-2008 02:52 AM

I'd suggest replicating the GK server, and putting it on the classic tab. Before doing that, all the major leveling bugs should be fixed. You really shouldn't be able to buy anything, except for the things that only effect you.

Give it a week or two, and see what happens. It probably won't work though, the server is too far gone.

The most difficult part is figuring out what to do besides baking cakes or killing a thousand bomys until you finally level up. And when you've leveled, you might just be able to take on gloks and get a little more exp.

You'll probably save time using social engineering to get someone to power level you at lords and give you free stuff.

Reborn_Soul 04-13-2008 11:15 PM

bump

kia345 04-13-2008 11:39 PM

Bumping for bad ideas.

When no one posts in an idea thread, it's usually because no one likes it.

Ravenblade1979 04-14-2008 03:35 AM

No usually it means its old news and we been there done that type attitude was developed

xAzerothx 04-14-2008 04:12 AM

If this was a popular thread it wouldn't have needed a bump, no?

DustyPorViva 04-14-2008 04:25 AM

Not really. A lot of threads with good ideas just fade away because Stefan didn't notice them and there's nothing else to discuss.

xAzerothx 04-14-2008 04:54 AM

If I was staff and saw a thread that said "staf lewk pl0x!1!!11" I'd avoid it just to piss people off.

Lol, that'd defintely piss me off. But still i think they should still have a peak and post there thoughts about it or something.

xAzerothx 04-14-2008 05:31 AM

Has Stefan posted in this? When's the last time Stefan's even posted in a GK related thread?

Xterminator 04-14-2008 05:31 AM

Hmm Good point.

RealJuggernaut 04-15-2008 06:52 PM

i agree, though.. i know you guys want money, but lets be honest; you arent making that much off the 50 people who pay once a year

make it free, then people can actually get their friends to try it, as opposed to: "yo you should get this game, its like 20 bucks and you dont really do anything"

Eranian 04-18-2008 06:22 AM

Don't make it free.
Make it worth playing.

Add more items that players can get without USDing.
Currently about 90% of the items are completely unobtainable for any new player who doesn't want to shell out a load of USD for them.

And then the general gameplay ends really abruptly when you get to level 16 and realise that you can already beat a bomy lord and that's basically the toughest mob in the game.

Kingdoms are such a mess that they're barely worth joining, especially since the playercount lately barely constitutes enough people for a single house, let alone 5 kingdoms.

Mousymee 04-23-2008 08:15 AM

maybe the toughest monster in the game shouldnt be able to be one shotted thatd be kewl

How about actually getting on rather then coming on the forums acting like a doom-sayer? Its not really helping anyone when you do that.

Too true, I'd bet John could back that up. ;)

I'm sure if she wanted to get on she would. It's not her responsibility to help GK get out of the hole, so she shouldn't need to get on just to help. GK should make people want to get on, they shouldn't have to get on just to make the playercount look higher.

This pretty much happened to me the other day when I was trying to get a friend to play GK. I couldn't really lie to him

Ravenblade1979 04-23-2008 04:35 PM

GK is harder for people to play. The mechanics are different then those of other servers.

How does that even fit into the current discussion?!
