Agreed. I have no problem with not being able to do your job because of real life issues, but you really should let someone else take over until you are ready to devote more time to the game.

Ravenblade1979 03-25-2008 03:01 AM

Actually I bet he told Stefan but since GRAAL KINGDOMS DOESN'T MAKE MONEY LIKE ZONE Stefan is turning more attention to zone than GK.

I wouldn't be in his shoes if I wasn't willing to devote my life to Gk.

Stefan doesn't try to earn money from Gk. Someone said this earlier, but Zone is like Stefan's favorite nephew. He's shunning Gk, and giving Zone all he's got. So you can expect Zone, the one getting it all, to be giving more output.

I always believed intelligence was inversely proportional to religious influence.

It seems I stand corrected: People with alternative views can be idiots too.

I know, those kind of people get on my nerves :\

There are some at my school.

But the two of us are cool, right?

I know we always blame the staff first, and 9 times out of 10 whatever the problem we're blaming them for actually is their fault, this isn't one of those cases. What, exactly, is your problem with Bjorn? He didn't make an Easter dungeon? An easter dungeon does nothing to remedy GK's problems.

It's not just Easter, it's a lack of updates all-together.

I agree GK has other problems, but right now the staff aren't doing anything, and generally it isn't the player's responsibility to fix the game they pay for ...

As I said before, arbitrary updates aren't going to help. If you want to complain about lack of updates go ahead, but don't act like the lack of "updates" in the general sense is causing the activity problem.

Bjorn pays too.

The current dispute toward Bjorn within this thread began BEFORE the updates were out. So it started because we were at the day before Easter, or the day of, and there was word of no updates/events being scheduled. We should really get both- updates (since they happen at no other time, holidays are a good time for them) and events (that should be a given by now, for Xmas, new year, easter, and of course Graaloween). And he made it worse by responding with a "lulz i dont care, i can do what i want" attitude. So even if Easter was fixed, Bjorn still hasn't been.

Also, the Easter dungeon does help one of the major problems that would cause people like me to give up on GK- it makes it possible to advance further in physique/magic/wisdom.

I didn't want a dungeon. I wanted Easter. We had no Easter until Tig and Stephen went out of their way to make the dungeon. Bjorn hadn't even been online on Easter day when I made this thread.

True, it doesn't fix anything. But what if Bjorn lets Easter slide? A sucky event with a lame outcome. And then what about the other holidays? We've been hitting 20, no, 30 people with this dungeon. But if Bjorn lets the rest of our "temporary-life-giving" holidays slide, we'll be lucky to see 10 people.

MrAnonymous_P2P 03-25-2008 02:58 PM

Stefan has to do something now, he knows his best made server is dieing, he is not going to let it do so (Even though it already has) . The only answer now is to be patient.

Ravenblade1979 03-25-2008 04:31 PM

Actually whats funny is that Bjorn did come on and he had no idea what was going on for easter because Stefan told him nothing. Gee why would this be...ah thats right the exams he has to study for.

Lay off of him. Him and maroku did end up planning something. Not sure if maroku started it up though.

Bjorn must be told what to do at all times? A part of leadership is to take the initiative and lead..

No, it's called lack of communication.
If I was capable of being a Graal admin, I'd make myself very accessible to my fellow staff members. There's e-mail, forum PM's, cell-phones... there's too many forms of communication in our modern world for someone to be neglecting it all. Maybe Bjorn isn't making himself easy-to-reach? Even during busy times, it's not hard to send a quick cell-phone text, e-mail, PM, etc...

True.
I would have been completely happy if Bjorn recycled the traveling Santa-NPC. He could even replace the items with Easter gift-class items (as oppose to "rare" or event-class items) and ask someone to make an Easter Bunny graphics (or just use that pink bunny lord graphics...).

How difficult would that have been?

During my study time, actually a break I'm taking like lots of people did before, too, I was still able to be reached. Lots of people sent me forum pms or emails and all of them got an answer on the same but at last on the secound day.

Quit your Gk position if you're not willing to allot time to it. You have a job to do which you took knowing it might get in the way. If something gets in your way that's more important, quit the less important job rather than making all of us suffer.

Where is the problem, lots of players and also staffs took a break for whatever reasons. So now I do it and taking a break becomes a symbol of ignorance and unwilling to do something. Great idea.
I'm not the only one who can develop things. There is a long list of developers who have access to the debugserver and rights to do something on there. It's not that I'm the only one who should develop something but you make it sound that way.

kia345 03-26-2008 01:00 AM

It's different for you because you're an admin who decides to get busy when some thing's coming up. Why must you be so difficult about it, it's clear you don't like your job or care about Gk. If you really want to help but don't want to quit, appoint an admin under you who's willing to work when you can't.

Darklux 03-26-2008 03:24 PM

I don't think that anyone has a problem with you taking a timeout, yet people have a problem with that no replacement was installed for the period of time where you would be unavilliable.

Ravenblade1979 03-26-2008 05:22 PM

1) Have we forgotten about the other dev staff?
2) Have we forgotten that we can forum pm Bjorn. Heck I do that everyday for the past few days and I have an answer by the next day so he is reachable.
3) People keep on forgetting about Stefan. With bjorn studying why not contact Stefan?
4) Tig is able to do projects so if you have ideas contact him and he can either forum pm Bjorn or Stefan.

lordbosh 03-26-2008 06:04 PM

GK Administration
Team manager
dNeonb:Björn

If his job title was GK Developer, I doubt people would be so fuming over the lack of his appearance. However, a team manager sounds like a team leader for any workforce. Thus he should have already planned ahead for this, and it is his responsibility to assign and ensure new projects are completed.

I'm also wondering what this "lots of players and also staffs took a break for whatever reasons" is all about, coming from the team manager of GK. Do we not keep track of who is doing what? Who is working on what project, and who even plays the game anymore?

What have I seen so far? Bjorn is probably a decent developer in terms of knowladge, but hes not management material. He wasn't an player when he was given that job to begin with.

I mean no offense by him not being management material, it is a rare ability to be able to break down big objectives into individual tasks and assign them to people based on their individual talents. It is also difficult to ensure that these projects are completed, and to keep workers motivated.

But who was Bjorn? Some dude from Samurai, that had a house on the northern area of the island. I did not know him, he was not a frequent player. All of a sudden he becomes the top dog of GK, and we had 3 years of nothing.

I don't want to bash Bjorn, I barely know him. I just know that my favorite game has been suffering for 4 years, and until the easter event the server was DEAD. And if we need to move on from our old administration and find new faces and new ideas to revive GK, what is wrong with that?

I don't know about you, but I still remember how fun the game was back when I played, and I still see how it can be fun again. But it has to come from the active people, who still have GK's best interest in mind.

Sam 03-26-2008 06:28 PM

Closed. If the management thinks there must be new or other staff or managers or what ever get hired they will do it.
If Stefan want to say anything about it he still can do it, also Björn. But this is going to become a bashing thread to the current staff and that's not what I can accept.
