It cheapens your art and makes it look bad...it also says that you were too lazy to remake it diagonally.

Improved it maybe?

Zideruic 02-24-2007 02:20 AM

It basically over anti-aliases it and darkens the colors immensely....sticks out like a sore thumb. Smirt do you think I should post my tutorial for a brushed metal look?

If you're going to rotate with PSP limit the colour palette to 256 first, that'll stop the blurring and the saturation, and then you just need to go and touch up the outlines because it misplaces a lot of pixels.

What??.. By that do you mean that it lacks black outlines? If so then you have quite a warped view of pixel art terminology.

Line art is not the black outlines of a piece, its the initial lines you draw to plan out your art. Like so:

Pixel art isn't always rendered with a pure black outline, thats just a style choice. In fact pixel art pieces quite often look better with colored outlines of a slightly darker shade then whatever your outlining.

^ I must admit that is about 99% true. However, if you are going for a cartoon styled look, like that of what was Shaun64's server (I forget the name) then a black outline can really finish the graphic off to a tee.

Makes sence. Heres another version I made it't a normal sword instead of a block sword... No it's not a fill it's pixle by pixle.

I was just trying to teach him about line-art there man. I wasn't even definitive about my opinions, so there was nothing there for you to disagree with. I used the qualifier "Quite often" which sounds about the same as your "99%".

Unfortuneatly it looks like he just read your post instead of mine. So now he still has no idea what line-art really means, he just feels better about his black outlines because they have a "cartoony" charm.

Clearly.
Well, Colin is an illiterate child, so, he really needs to touch up on his reading skills before doing any sort of 'art', because he won't be able to read anything that people are telling him to do. >_<
