Maiku 07-08-2006 09:52 PM

How does it mess up your trading? The person selling the items earned his items, so.. how is that going to be ruining the game for you? Its not abuse, or duping. You just don't like it because, thats how you started out.. You also don't want anyone as rich as you you prick.

hampy 07-08-2006 09:56 PM

Hey! Sams has done nothing wrong, don't take your anger out on him. Sams a good guy who should be thanked and respected for all the time and effort put in to GK.

Freedom of speach as you say :D Anyway i'm not sucking up to anyone. Just because I like Sam and try to praise him doesn't mean i'm a bad person >_<

ReBorn_Spirit 07-08-2006 10:07 PM

It would actually make more sense if staff actually tried to make money for graalonline with USD scamms like this. Then again I probably should shut up.

Or you could do some MapleStory thing and let users buy "cool new looks" that only last 90 days.

This is different, however. We're in a small community, and supplies of rare equipment is very limited.

Although I still agree with you - because most USDers are willing to trade gear so long as it's a fair trade (duh).

It may come as a surprise, Miz, but Stefan isn't exactly reclining in a wheelchair with a steady stream of drool running down his unshaven face. He can think of such things himself - and it has been mentioned to him before.

The fact is, even if Graal can't control what happens over AIM, it can control what's on it's servers. What I mean by this is,

While no, you can't pillor/ban someone for AIM USD'ing, you CAN pillor/ban them for attemping it by sending out a mass message saying you're selling on AIM.

So if I am selling some items, and I wish to converse prices over AIM rather than Graal, I am immediatly selling for USD?

Negative.

KuJi 07-09-2006 12:09 AM

They ban on Runescape, and they handle it well.

They check for low levels with high equipment, or a lot of money. I guess that can't be done on here soon people buy new accounts. (CUBES :O <3)

But.. there should be something.

Sam 07-09-2006 12:18 AM

Selling items for real money is not illegal. It's not our business what you are doing with your money. We don't care if you give items for free or sell them for $$.
But if we tolerate deals for real money on graal servers, the players wants us to monitor the deals and restore items or pay back money to scammed players. There are a few more reasons why it's not allowed to announce it, but I think it's clarified now, why we tolerate mass messages containing the phrase "over AIM".

Then why not discuss them on Graal? Lol

And, just out of question...If admins don't monitor USDing, can I tell someone I'll give them the money after I get the items, take the items, log off, and tell the admin that I paid them when they go whining?

Some people do things their own way. You'll concede that because they are selling over AIM doesn't really mean that they're selling USD.

This is why, as far as I understand, it's illegal to advertise in game that you're selling for USD. The Graal Online rules do not support USDing, so if you're scammed - it's your own business. You're shtuff out of luck, in a manner of speaking.

Logically, you're right
Realistically, 100% of the cases on GK where people say "selling items over aim", it is in direct correspondence with "USDing".
Logic doesn't always play a part in situations. And if so, then why not base a decision made strictly of probability, such as "No asking for transactions outside of Graal" to avoid most of this?

Lol...I may actually try that then? Or is it against the rules to state that you're going to? Or what?

Yes, and I'm afraid that's how a "code of conduct" has to be constructed. I realize that 95% of all "selling on AIM" messages are USD, if not *all*.

You would likely be punished for your malicious intent to disturb another users gameplay. Be respectful, at the least.

Well no...It would not be malicious intent by any means, it would be me wanting l33t itams. Wouldn't bother me, they were trying to dispose of them anyway ;[

Devotchkas 07-09-2006 02:49 AM

fact of the matter is staff cant stop USDing unless they actually hold good events to give out real items

i can list people who have bought or sold usd and the whole server would be destroyed

so i say this again
WHO CARES

staff is just lazy :]
they wont release new items

Go for it, it's their fault for trying to sell their items, if they get scammed the only person they can blame is themself

It's a terrible shame but cyberjoueurs allows this to happen even though it really is their property being sold.

Here it is for all to see...

Exchanging Items & 'Scamming'
Character-owned items, such as tools, houses, and bomy pets, may be auctioned or traded within Graal's auction or trading features. If, due to bugs in the system, there are discrepancies between the buyer/seller terms and the actual result, GraalOnline will make all reasonable attempts to rectify the situation.

Any exchange of materials outside GraalOnline secured exchange locations, falls under the term 'caveat emptor', or 'buyer beware.' In other words, GraalOnline will not be responsible for rectifying broken promises, incomplete trades, etc. in such a setting. If trading outside Graal 'sanctioned' trading locations, trade only with players you can trust.

This 'caveat emptor' approach does not mean Scamming is legal, only that it is difficult to prove. If Graal Police witness a scam directly they may punish the offending player. The best way to avoid being scammed is to only trade within secure trading facilities in Graal.

Meaning if you do any trades outside of graal, like through any instant messanger system, you take the risk of being scammed and cyberjoueurs cannot help you get your money back or the items one person "said" they were going to give you because you don't have any proof.

It should be looked at though, i'm sure that 5% of the people that want to use instant messanger "even though it's not for USD sales" would be upset if they were suddenly banned, but if you ARE trying to sell graal for graal items there's just no excuse for you to use instant messanger.

myth-simba 07-09-2006 11:49 PM

personally i think...

i think selling / buying items is a great idea,

graal kingdoms is a hard server to get good on, most all good items are rare which condems other players to not be as good,
Unless new items are released it usding won't be stopped.

anyways, i think it should be allowed, after all it's their item and their money, it just means graal cannot help them at all to retrieve it.

Moondeath_2 07-09-2006 11:57 PM

How on earth do you guys turn this into a flame thread, and go way off topic.

Devotchkas 07-10-2006 12:19 AM

i just dont see how people who work for their money and have the rights to spend it how they please are ruining a game

i think its more of the people who complain about it that are ruining the game because theyre possiably to lazy to go mow lawns to make some money and have that spare money to spend?

cause i sure do see a lot of you on here since ive been home these past few weeks

Spiker 07-10-2006 01:11 AM

That is why I have had this in my siggy for so long, because I am reminding people that USDing SUCKS!!!!!
