Cool, sword still could be improved for what it is....I think it just looks like a sharpened rock instead of a metal blade of some sort.

Draenin 04-13-2006 07:38 AM

Do we have to use one of the sprites already created, or can we use different ones? I noticed that Donald's is really different.

davidpsy 04-13-2006 08:12 AM

Yeah, you can make your own.

Draenin 04-13-2006 10:31 AM

Bwahahahahaha.

We shall see about all this, then.

alarid0 04-13-2006 10:48 PM

It was preferred that you use one of mine...lol...but you know Donald. He's stubborn.

Sounds like your making your own...just try and make it fit in with the others

Draenin 04-14-2006 03:54 AM

It's up to you. You started the contest. The rules asked for us to request poses, which people haven't done so far. But be warned, I'm doing a completely different kind of body type if you let me run with a pose of my own.

alarid0 04-14-2006 08:02 AM

take one of mine then

Draenin 04-14-2006 09:12 AM

If I do, Donald's gonna have to do another, since he used one of the ones that wasn't a pose. Otherwise, I'll do a brand new one.

By the way, this thread isn't really too much of a collaboration thread, as we're not all working on the same thing. It should be more classified as a contest or something. Granted, we aren't winning prizes or anything, but it's an opportunity nonetheless to get critiqued and find ways to improve.

davidpsy 04-14-2006 09:32 AM

If you're going to force them to use just your poses that you posted in this thread, then you should just disqualify my entry. I'm just not really inspired by the poses you posted, thats all. However, this is a collaboration contest, and you and I did collaborate on the original pose, even if I took it over as you started on the legs and reworked a lot of it, you did do some work on it. Meaning I technically followed the rules, we DID collaborate on the pose. Then I did do all the work on adding clothing/armor and accessories to the figure, so I technically didn't break any rules of the contest at all.

Other wise let Draenin do what he wants or collaborate on the post with him, and my entry will still stand. A word of caution though, you've had enough problems with getting entries to your contest, forcing the entries to only use the poses that you've posted in this thread may further these problems.

I did this pretty fast but I thought I'd contribute anyway... It's Maes Hughes from Full Metal Alchemist.

I'm cosplaying as him at Anime Central next month. :)

Here's a drawing of him:

Holy...I love it :D. Can I please use it as my signature image?:o

konidias 04-14-2006 07:51 PM

Hahaha, sure. I like it. It makes me want to make more FMA people.

CidNight1142 04-14-2006 10:53 PM

You're drawing of him is awesome. You could draw for the show, lol.

Draenin 04-15-2006 12:02 AM

I'd rather stick with doing my own character sprite.

I don't think he mean't that he did the drawing, just that it was a drawing of the character in the url, though I could be wrong.

Hahaha oh no I didn't draw that link... That *IS* from the show. I was just showing it for comparsion to my sprite. =p

What is wrong with cosplay Gerami? Sure it's kind of nerdy if you try to pretend like you're the character (or you actually think you ARE the character), but dressing up in a costume isn't bad...

People dress up for halloween, mardi gras, etc... There's gonna be like 10,000 people at the convention I'm going to and I'm sure a large percentage of them will dress up. It's fun, and it's also fun meeting tons of people who share the same interests as you.

Halloween is different. You're not dressing up as a specific character, just outfitting yourself irl. Mardi Gras I don't know, never been to a festival.

CidNight1142 04-15-2006 04:01 AM

Awwww, I misread. Oh well, the pixel is really good too, lol.

alarid0 04-15-2006 07:23 AM

Hmm I think I need to explain a few things :X My original intentions.

When I first thought about doing this, I tried thinking how I could get more people to join. I ended up coming up with something simple enough...have me do the first part of the work. When your working off of a figure already, it's much easier than starting from scratch. If I can have it where people lower the amount of work they need to do but still get a decent piece when their done, I figured that might do it. (mmm you prooved me wrong) It would also keep all the entries similar; they would all seem to be part of a set, but different enough to be unique from piece to piece.

As it stands, it would have been better termed as a "challenge." If you look, I was planning on giving a prize to the winner. Theres another reason I wanted to do half of the work...because that was the whole point behind the contest. "Given the basic body, who did the best job of dressing it up?" It keeps everyone on the same task, instead of starting from scratch. Working from scratch...well...what makes it fit into the whole set? I could have just made a thread saying "K make some characters people! GO!"

Another thing I think was missed... Donald and Draenin, I'm hearing from both of you the same thing. None of the three poses really inspired you towards anything. My original plan wasn't to just throw out a few random poses, but to hear from each person that wanted to enter and find out how they wanted their character to be positioned. I started working on Donalds, but like I said...he's stubborn. I began working on the legs and he took over from there... actually he didn't even use my legs- he redid them.

Well...it didn't go so well :/ I'll just leave it as a challenge instead of a contest. In which case...Draenin, go ahead and do whatever you want. I'd love to see what you turn out.

And Koni - nice job! The leg & boot shading is kind of bugging me though , and the rest of the coloring is pretty simple (which is fine). You did exactly what I was hoping for. Good work with the outfit.

Cosplaying is pretty fun. I've never really done any weird costumes or anything but i've been to a couple Cosplay places where it's costume optional, theres a load of stuff to do and the spirit is so high around there.

Draenin 04-15-2006 09:24 AM

Alrighty. Now I just have to wait so I can use paint again. XD

It bugged me too but I was too lazy to fix it. Hahaha.

Yeah I left the coloring simple because for one, the anime has simple colors, and two, it's not really as noticeable when zoomed out to normal size since it's so small.

But thanks!
