You post that as if you're expecting someone to read that non-related garble besides me.

What you are implying is that every leader in Zormite gets met with harshness no matter what, and that's not entirely true.

Also... I understand that Kingdoms need to change from time to time, but to ignore the kingdom's history is going to destroy it. Zormite has always been about fish people.

It exists but is obsolete. Its powers were of significance on 2K1 where magic generally ranged from very weak to totally nonexistant. An average 2K2 mage, however, possesses abilities superior to those of the Orb.

While it falls within the authority of a kingdom leader to change the kingdom's flag, government system, colours and even name, changing race is not possible. Whether or not we would like to and whether it would be a good or bad idea to do so is inconsequential because it's something that simply cannot be done.

it's quite popular in the Canadian educational system. I didn't think we were really that obscure. >_<

What?

Except it wasn't. Because that would have been impossible. Bel'la Olplyn was a kingdom of Zormites who claimed to be Drow because that's what the conventions of RP dictate they had to be.

Huh? So they were actually fish people dressed up as Drow? What?

My post was slightly mistaken. It is possible for Etien and Kefkin to have been Drow, but it is not possible for a Bel'la Olplyn to have been a Drow kingdom. Etien and Kefkin can't simply declare all Zormite RP characters dead just because they happen to have political authority over the kingdom.

I would like you to refer to the active member count, aswell as the member count at that time. >_<

Matthew White 02-01-2006 06:08 AM

I'm not in any way saying that we're going to adopt a new race. We are still Zormite, and we are still human. We've mingled. Have you forgotten the humans that died separating Zormite from the Drow?

Secondly, 'communism' is an annoying, misunderstood buzz word. I would prefer that we call this a socialist republic, like it was before. You're all startled by the flag, but I explained it. It is not in any way representative of an essential political change. It is a republic, it will be a republic as long as I hold breath.

Finally, all Zormite leaders - are - met with hostility, and elitism, and 2k1ism. Wren was, Of course etien was, ZH was, and I am. It's not unexpected.

You should probably start with the roots x_x

Draenin 02-01-2006 06:15 AM

Yeah, that'd be a good idea. Also, I didn't see ZH met with much hostility, unless you mean the hostility of the 2 (Sort of.) active members of Bel'la Olplyn.

Not to mention I was only king for a month, or so.

Draenin 02-01-2006 06:38 AM

Descriptions of what?

Matthew White 02-01-2006 07:13 AM

It's only been since people tried to enact any change that hostilites have been met, which is why I started with Wren. You're not powerplaying until you do what Etien did, so there's no need to scorch at me over it. I'm simply enacting the republic, and will do so for the glory of the nation.

Nobody is saying that any of the changes are a violation of RP conventions, just that they have other serious shortcomings.

Believe it or not, I actually HAD read that story in English a few years ago, and this year I reread it in AP. Good reference, but fundamentally flawed in that there is a definate yet unexplainable difference between a kingdom's preferred color swatch and blind faith in luck-of-the-draw murder.

So my pic just meant the rising sun, what it has to do with Samurai. Samurai -> Japan -> Amaterasu -> Sun Goddess

Honestly if it hadn't been used by Nazis, you wouldn't know what a swastika was or its meaning.

I think you missed the point. They were randomly killing people without questioning why - and when they did, the answer was "Well, we've been doing it so long. Why should we stop now?"

It's been blue for so long, yes - but why can't it change?

It can change, but blue is the obvious logical colour for Zormite.

Because two other kingdoms are red, and how cool would you be to follow the crowd?

If you wish it not to be misunderstood, you shouldn't give them a flag that will directly be linked to its bad reputation. Would you think it's a smart idea to start a kingdom with a swastika flag?

So you're essentially saying that when someone reasonable gets in charge and changes it to a monarchy/democracy/anarchy you'd kill yourself?

Matthew, the only reason you're in charge is because some idiot took over and started changing things. Now you're gonna do the same. History repeats itself.

But Matthew is clearly making large efforts to do his best with the idea. So instead of shouting prophecies of doom, etc... why not just watch and see how it turns out? :)

Waltz5 02-02-2006 11:14 PM

I understand that people have problems with history and such, and I'm not saying I disagree.

However, the biggest thing I see is this is a step in the right direction. Matt is trying something and getting the ball rolling.

I've tried to start something new for Samurai, to increase some RPing... but now it's going on 3 weeks I think on waiting for it to be uploaded. Hopefully you'll see it soon.

Matthew White 02-03-2006 11:41 PM

Besides, as far as I see it, the people who dissent the most, I never see online anyway.
