What if the player controlled two characters at once? One Human, and One Bomy... Err, well I guess that would be like everyone having a bomy pet, huh?

If you have the 2 races, which I think is a huge part of 2001, then you should just have to choose in the beginning and then that's it. Nothing else. I also told Koni he can count on me for any help when he needs it. |

This is what I want:
*points at attachment* 1.get rid of these damn villas and put the house back, that was my favorite house =( 2.this whole underground crap was a failure, get rid of it. 3.give me back old dustari, we will never use all those houses. 4.what the hell is the point of this, I never understood? 5.That is MY bush field, keep it the way it was. Other things I didn't circle: 1.Everything unfinished (hotel, konidias quest house, gsl arena) get rid of it, I hate looking at unfinshed stuff. 2.kungfu system, just give everyone a sword, i don't want to work for it. 3.give me the damn old bodies back, jesus, just do it already. 4.I can't really remember right now, I'll think of something later I really think th downfall of 2k1 was just because of some bad descions to put time into. If we could just go back to the original map, but keep some of the changes, I would be happy =D |
Make jobs like mini games, for example, when smithing, a vertical colorcoded bar will apear, the point is to focus a little ball in the middle of the bar, to do so, you need to press the left and right keys after each other. The ball itself will be moving from one end of the bar to the other end, but when pressing the keys it will be "pressed" into the middle. This might need further tweaking and the such, but it'll atleast make sure people consentrate and not bore themselves with jobs.
Also, keep the kung-fu fighting, and tweak it to be as good as the sword (damage wise) it's way more fun to fly throug the air and kick people in the head, than to just swing a sword at them. ^^ And remove the bomy moon, it's ugly and takes up too much space! :O |

I have always liked the idea of having multiple characters.
It would be so when you loaded the startup screen it gives you a chance to select which character you would like to choose. It would also have options to delete a character and obviously create a character. It is just an aspect I have always liked from another MMORPG I play every now and then. |
whoever said underground idea failed?
ug-lake was cool and is a part of graal instrument shop is there...bottle shop...the best fishing spots in graal..etc. |
Quote:
I never saw anyone down there, those things could easily be moved to the surface. Also I didn't like all the darkness, my screen isnt bright and i could never see |
I love ug-lake I was a fisher when mining started to suck and there was one spot that I just sat at non stop :[
|

And the UG-Lake was freaking keen. Leave it there! Also, why would he get rid of everything unfinished? That's the stupidest thing I've heard in a very long time, congrats Damix... Here's a thought: finish the unfinished things. I'm curious about Lance's opinion on this whole thing. Hmmm... |
Quote:
If it hasn't been finished by now then I doubt anyone can even remember the original intentions. Heres a thought for you:Start new things, obviously this stuff hasn't been working. |
I thought the UG lake was kind of cool, personally.
|
Same, but I think it was way too dark. Even with a torch.
|
Yes, I liked UG lake too... aside from the fact that birdbird plastered it with lights (that didn't illuminate anything) and tons of freaking badly scripted npcs that lagged me.
I will fix it up just like all the other levels. I don't think you can get rid of such a huge amount of stuff and just move the important things elsewhere. That wouldn't be sticking with the original 2k1 very well. I may work on the unfinished things... The quest house was my doing, so I can probably finish that finally. As for multiple characters Mykel, that wouldn't work very well. It would be hard to store the data for each character. I mean the player account would be jammed full of strings and such. You can always have multiple graal accounts to have multiple characters. =P As for the jobs and minigames thing... I'm not sure I understand your concept exactly Myomoto. I have come up with some possible solutions to make jobs not boring though. When I get around to the jobs stuff I will post explanations of the job changes. It won't be happening right away though. I'm uncertain as to whether I want human and bomy races. The only thing it not having bomy players would cause, is the bird catching and pearl diving jobs would be obsolete... I'm really just unsure as to whether players as bomies is a good idea. A big problem is that one of the new features on the server would be all the clothing options. But some of the bomies already have clothes, and I don't think I want to go to the trouble of making clothing for the bomies to wear... It would be so much work. I'm not even sure I want bomies as playable at any time. It would interfere with fighting and just be a big mess. Besides the fact that owning a bomy pet allows you to move just like a bomy would... I feel bad that some people want to play as bomies, but like 95% of the players would rather be human, and I can't spend dozens of hours just to satisfy that 5% that demand they can play as bomies. To make up for this, I'm going to have bomy pets be a lot more helpful to you. There *will* be a job or two that allows you to use your bomy pet in order to do the job. Your bomy will be able to carry items for you (though you can't ride it while it carries stuff) There could also be battling if I get around to that. =P Screenshots of what I've done so far should be posted in a day or two... If you want to show support for this revision, please add the support animation to your signature. I'm sort of in need of a server to host this on. I don't want to host it on Oasis because I might be continuing work on Oasis. Oh, and the reason I post such big posts is because I can only post once per day, so deal with it. >_< edit: by the way, this is my own project. it's not offiliated with the official 2k1. I didn't take over the official 2k1. I'm not sure what Lance has to say about this but I believe he doesn't mind or he would have closed/moved this thread already. It shouldn't really interfere with his project in any way. In fact it might take pressure off his project. |

I think that it would be a cool idea if you could have (at least) two characters you could play. Just about every other MMORPG I've played let's you have at least 3, and I think it would be a nice addition to Graal. But make it so that the two characters aren't able to share things with each other, I think that would add more depth to the game. Although other MMORPGs allow you to share the same bank account, there's good things and bad things about that. I mean you could help your other character out by making money on the other one and transferring it over. But at the same time this would make the game less interesting and have a lack of depth (i.e. they are just given items all the time instead of working for them like the other character did), so that's why I think overall it's best to make it so they don't interact with each other. I also like that idea about the new jobs, make it more interactive via mini games. You can make it so when you are mining you have to use the mouse along with the keyboard to make sure that you hit the rock in the right place (i.e.: holding the axe steady horizontally by pressing keys and clicking to pick at the rock, might not be able to script it, but it's an idea ;D). Once you hit it, the piece of rock chisels away, but if you hit the actual ore, you lose a chance of getting a "perfect" ore (one where you don't have to clean it and make it pretty, etc.) or you get a smaller one, something like that. Once again these are just some ideas I have, I'll try to come up with more. Me and Kyden have been talking about ideas and if possible I'd really like to help, because I really miss 2k1, it was my most favourite server of them all. *tear*
EDIT: I know that the two character idea is practically impossible on Graal, I was just saying that if it was at all possible it would be a fun addition. It would allow you to experience other jobs that you didn't pick on the other character, but that's probably a lot of complex scripting and such. But that was just a minor idea, the main point of this post is about the job interaction and such. I'll post more when I think of ideas. ^^ |
Just browsing through this thread, sounds neat, and would be really awesome if this gets finished. Curious to what Lance thinks of this, though.

I really loved being a bomy Koni. And with the server being classic you're gonna draw in all types of new crowds. New players always want to experiment with new races. I'm sure a ton of them will reset once they realize how hard being a bomy is, but you still will have your hardcore bomy players. The bomy pet system was fine as it was. I loved my kawie <3. I really don't think alot of bomy clothing should be available. We were treated like crap and I didn't mind. Pearl diving was fun as hell, and we swam fast ;]. Maybe just MAYBE add some type of hat system to bomys. I know this has been suggested in the past, but the only bomys which would be afflicted by this are the gangster bomys who have hats on. Eh, I don't know. We need some type of collectable item. I really am bad with this kind of crap but I know there were great ideas posted by other people somewhere else. Damn..I'm trying to think. All I care about is my kawie bomy and my island PH. Those were the only things I ever cared about keeping mine. Then Tseng stole my house (DAMN YOU WHEN YOU WERE TSENG #$#@#$@#$). Kawie wasn't put out as a pet for a while, but I spent a hell of a lot of money to make sure she was mine. Hats weren't my thing. Oh, I collected apples too. I loved apple farming..NEVER CHANGE IT.

If you do have a two-race system, make sure you provide ample instruction in how to alternate between the two.
EDIT: Fixed a terrible typo, but not before it was quoted. |
yes dont make people have a "set" race

Taking the fun out of being one or the other. While one may have been more disadvantaged than the other, the point in races is to be one or another, not to be all at once? |
no i dont mean you can be both races i mean like let someone play a bomy but if they hate it let them change races but deleat all there current items so they cant make loads of money pearl diving then switch to human and buy loads of hats etc.

Aside from the money cheat, my house had a crap load of awesome features. It included a like 10 safes for people who wanted a secure place to store stuff and 1 special safe for myself where I kept all my money. It also looked awesome. Man, those were the days. I loved 2k1 back then.... |

edit:This was way back when it had first come out and I think it was you. I also remember when we turned it into the x-man house. The only houses I owned were the original one up on antora mountain and the one right near mining. I always wanted the one near dustari but Gabriel held it like forever. |
