Well, there's many outlying factors that alter the up's and down's of using either, which is when logic comes in to determine which one you should use. I'm just merely stating neither is actually better than the other inherently, since they both fufill the same specific purpose equally.
God, now I sound silly. :frown:

As I said before, scripting is inefficient for comments. How are you supposed to follow the commonly used (and easily readible)

format if your comments are in a string? It just seems to create needless work for scripters to make such a system, there are better things to do.
wow it's almost as if you're saying it's hard to script a small weapon/GUI/dbnpc

Argh no.... how dare we have a long list in server options?? What is the problem with that,

staff=,(GP),Admin,Asst,SnrCaptain,Captain,Captain, GP,Gp,GP,(FAQ),Admin,Asst,SnrCaptain,SnrCaptain,FA Q,FAQ,FAQ,(GC),Admin,Asst,GC,GC,GC,(LAT),Admin,Ass t,LAT,LAT,LAT,LAT,(Manager),Manager,(Misc),Unixmad ,Tyhm,Stefan,

Because that looks oh so outrageously bad, and REALLY clutters up the server options doesn't it?

URBANLEGEND 06-23-2004 01:16 PM

Between Selflon,PS,and VT, we can debate all week!

Anyway, Nice job PS :)

Shows what you know about maintaining a server.
Doesn't really surprise me that you feel that way, your staff are hardly happy.

I'm saying it's pointless. A whole lot of work for about two dozen letterspaces.

This isn't a personal battle, either. It's a policy battle. You just said yourself that you effectively don't care what the managers think (or the countless GPs/ETs/FAQs you'd be discouraging). Good job on keeping your "global image" up to snuff.

You just responded in a snide way, and are giving us all a bad image. I refuse to justify this with a response, period. This is bull that you cannot grow-up a little. This isn't a policy battle, we don't have to argue about policy, as Spark and I were talking. You recall spark right? Your boss, the PWA Admin, and you're still trial... And it does matter what the rest of the globals think, because if it goes to a vote, you've lost. But it hasn't even been proposed, just merely discussed, so leave it alone. And I never said anything about not caring what managers and such think, that's like saying the government doesn't care about businesses because they passed minimum wage laws, obviously it was done for a reason... So drop it.

As I understand it:
GST scripts.
PWA enforces playerworld rules.

Yeah, wouldn't it be great if the lines were that clear? No, there is more of a global responsibility to "enforce playerworld rules", the PWA is just set aside with that as their first priority. And if you cared to read, I did talk to Spark.

In closing, I'm done with this, and I'm very disappointed that you cannot act the part that your job should allow you to act. This is the reason that most of Graal hates the globals, and all this thread was, was me being nice, spending some time to work on something, and afterwards Spark and I had a discussion. You need to learn when to not be a jerk, and just be quiet.

Wow, that is really sad now. You're attacking other globals management skills. You need to watch where you draw your lines... You're supposed to be in a position of power and respect, and attacking managers/globals now isn't donig well for you. So please drop this petty nonsense.

You brought it up in here. I didn't.

As far as I know, the only globals who vote on issues such as this are PWA members. Then it goes to Stefan/unixmad for approval.
You just said that we weren't here to make playerworlds happy. This is true, but saying that we're going to try and enforce this pointless mandate in the same breath makes it sound very inconsiderate.

They are.
Global Scripting Team.
PlayerWorld Administration Team.
Please point to any confusing elements, I'll try to clarify them if necessary.

Graal doesn't hate globals. What a stupid statement.

Why are Graalians going to love you for this script? It seems to me they'd just be perplexed and annoyed.

I'm not attacking him as a global, I'm attacking him as a manager. He stated something in such a way that I took it to be sarcastic/hostile, so I retorted that he is in no position to criticize my ideals (notice the lack of happy staff and subsequently the lack of development on 2001).

This is a fun conversation to read. However, I think it will be closed, since it is completely necromanciated.

Projectshifter 12-26-2004 05:31 AM

I appreciate how you completely brought my post back to life... you know, after it is pretty much 6 months old and all =/
