Other than weapons, other NPCs can be created serverside, weapons are the only exception to this.

Falco had changed his topic midway through the thread, asked an entirely new question, and cited an event that is not called serverside in weapons as an example of one that he is looking for, thus ruling out the possibility that his new topic was looking for something about weapon scripts...?

Granted, lol. Just looked over it and realized that if (playertouchsme) would never be used in a weapon, unless you're totally ignorant on serverside scripting in weapons, he he. So yeah, just needed to clarify that WEAPONS do not have a created event :)

Drink some coffee before you post. I think you meant, 0.05 as .1 is fine serverside.

.05 doesn't work serverside

I think he was trying to say to not make timeouts unnecessarily small, but I'm not sure.

Ningnong 06-21-2004 12:09 AM

I thought he was meaning "Dont ever put timeouts of 0.05 serverside". I know 0.05 doesn't work serverside >_>

I suppose we have already explained your problems, but you still fails to notice.

Don't worry about it. Make a new thread for a new question in order to avoid confusion.

He was confused from the other stuff we said. You don't need to be so hard on him. :(

osrs 06-21-2004 02:29 AM

Oh yea, make a new thread if you still get in troubles. (I hope you don't :))

I'm not really being hard, i'm just being realist.

falco10291029 06-21-2004 04:22 AM

um actually I got what i needed about setlevel2 for the most part so how did that confuse me? I was fine with that once i got a clear explanation. I am sorry but I have never been the best with serverside so i seem confused with like commands. Also, this makes me appear as a **** scripter from all the questions i ask but i have helped many people with scripts and offline scripts that i make are considered good by many people. Out of 10 overall i am a 6 at scripting, clientside i am an 8, and serverside im a 4.

Please don't rate yourself. It only makes you look bad.

Along these same lines, don't allow non-scripters' ratings of your scripting ability to carry much weight in your head. They don't know about scripting, so how can they have any basis for saying you're a good scripter?

Salaisuus 06-21-2004 04:43 AM

You people are a pit off topic here.
Too much angst in this forum in general too. :spam:

EsCanavi 06-21-2004 04:44 AM

actualy its pettry imposible that you got 8/10, cause i'm almost sure that you don't know 1/8 of the command ( I never said i know them ) but i supose the last thing you can do ish rate yourself... I supose you can't realy know if your good or not...

& +

I never saw someone add that much problem with the addweapon CMD ¬.¬;

Salaisuus 06-21-2004 04:59 AM

People I dont think it realy matters if someone is rating them self or not.
It has nothing to do with this post and it has nothing to do with this forum.

On a side note to that, I think you can rate your self because its not as if you have to compare your self to others...Not that there is any point in stating these rates in that caise...

But in anycase, there is that "not graal related" forum if you realy have to talk about it.

Xecutor 06-21-2004 06:59 AM

Um, you do rate yourself compared to other people.

i said 8 out of 10 CLIENTSIDE. I do know most clientside commands and how to use them. I have been asked to make clientside weps before and people really think i know that. There are still a few commands that confuse me, not i sed 8 out of 10. and if im rating myself, it means my opinion compared to most other scripters. And if you dont know those commands, how can you say I dont either?!

Oh and when I try to save classes RC says:
"Script *scriptname* saved (no npc with this class on the server)."
And wont display the file. Even tho there is an npc with that class on the server. Why oh why?

First you need to make the class. Then you need to have an NPC that joins the class in a level. The class list won't show it until the join thing is done. If the class isn't showing up on the class list, go into the level where the join stuff is done. If that still doesn't work, you can access the class through the scripts folder in RC (and of course for me, whenever I open a text file from RC, it's all on one line and I have to hit enter a million times for it to be back to normal).
Now to try to explain addweapon
NPC Code:
if (actions/conditions) addweapon weaponname;

The weapon, will then go into the player's weapons list and carry out whatever script is in the weapon script stored in the server (viewed by clicking the sword icon thing in RC).
toweapons, on the otherhand, isn't quite as organized.

falco10291029 07-13-2004 04:14 PM

toweapons is not practical. If used clientside, anyone who gets the weapon is disconnected. Used serverside, It actually OVERRIDEs what is saved in the server weapon list. Addweapon all the way!

... 20 days...

despite, scripting implies much much much more than commands, rating yourself is pointless and impractical since you don't know what all is possible, it's too friggen complicated for a singular scale anyway
