He is right, though. It would be impossable for Gral to blow your computer up, unless your computer can't handle it, and it should shut down or give you mesages saying it is out of resources and it will restart in safe mode.

Legally downloaded music (ie, iTunes, Rhapsody, etc.)
Games.
Software.

1) Graal is not capible of causing hardware damage like you described.


2) The Canadian Dollar is worth Less than the US Dollar. Something that costs $20 in US Dollars will cost about $26 in Canadian Dollars (It used to be a much bigger difference, but the US Economy is not very good right now, and Canada is finally getting stronger). Usually, things like Computers are more expensive in Canada because of Importing etc. but not by much. So things may SEEM more expensive in Canada, but it's just that one Canadian dollor is worth less than one US Dollar so it takes more money in Canadian curency to equal the same thing.

(I'm both a citizen in the US and Canada and spend equal time in both countries so this is personal experience.)


3) I built up my computer for about $1,200, this was a few months ago, and didn't include a monitor. What I have:

All black :) I enjoy it. It cost more than it should of because I only put top-of-the-line stuff in it :o (e.g. ATI brand, not ATI licenced card, Corsair tested memory, etc.)

I'm very happy with it. The board is fantastic, and was one of the few non-intel boards recomended by Intel for 800MHz bus P4s

Next on my list for it is a flatscreen display, and black keyboard/mouse to finish up the looks :)


4) Most of my Hard-disk is filled with Media, Video and Audio. But it's stuff I create. I do a lot of film editing, recording, etc. Don't be quick to judge someone on the size of their HD. Anyone who downloads any of the popular P2P clients now-a-days is just asking for it anyway, they're filled with spy-ware. Lately for Music I've been using iTunes Music Store, it's pretty sweet, and a fair price.

5) Oh, I'm also on Cable now... 500 K/s is pretty sweet :)

Uh, my friend has US citizenship, and he was born in Canada. I don't think the US federal goverment is THAT lame as to force you to revoke all other citizenships...

I was born in the US so my citizenship here can never be taken away. My parents were Canadian born, so my citizenship there can't be taken away either.

Yea parents dont know much about computers these days...I get blamed for everything that goes wrong with any sort of electronic device in my house....If the computer crashes it was Zippy's fault, If the TV messes up it was Zippy's fault, If the DVD Player falls off the shelf it was Zippy's fault....:(

I believe that is because adults in a parental setting feel they need to have an answer immediately or shortly thereafter. However, this added with the common ignorance of the finer points in today's technologies usually makes them conclude a false answer.
Lastly, if evidence is brought to light disproving their conclusions, most will react with denial, as they will not want to admit they are in a position of less knowledge than their children.

My parents blame any slight mishap with their computer on any game I have downloaded on their computer, most of the time graal.

Just a hilarius addition. After running a whole bunch of repairing software, spybots, virus scans and otehr stuff like that, my dad told me that NO errors were assosiated with Graal.
Before that he blamed anything that is wrong with computer on Graal so yeah XD. A sort of in your face evidence.

So uh, should I consider myself lucky that my parents never make false accusation on me? Even when it's about computers (something they know nothing about)? XD

My dad blames my games on the computer when the computer acts up.. He thinks that's what happend to my other computer, and I try to explain to him what the problems were.. Anyways, I'm the one paying $55 every two weeks for the computer I'm on now, so he can't say ****.

Same thing happend to me when i turned up the amount of power one of my school's computers got ;) "Boom!!"
