I think allow the kingdom king/ head jailing office decide on how long...I'm sure no king will leave em in there to long. Plus allow a way to get out of jail but in which is very hard to do. So if you don't want to stay in jail do something high risk to get out, maybe have hidden jail tunnels with traps.
