trouble? lol, i think koni has gotten more done with 3 people, then faheria did with 10 people.. and oasis might be private but i dont know, and faheria has been up at least forever and this is the first time ive seen progress....

I'm all alone on Oasis.. I get scripting tips and help from Kaimetsu sometimes but he doesn't really work on Oasis anymore.

I'm the only person doing the graphics.

The tree leaves are nice, but the trunks could be detailed more (when you compare them to the grass they look like brown rectangles) Also, the coloring on the trees is excessively more vibrant then all the other graphics. Notice the deep greens in the grass, then the bright normal greens on the tree leaves. Notice the detail and wood effect on the GUI, and then the wood on the tree. I think the trees are the only thing that needs work. You need to make them lose that "floating" feeling by adding some sort of shadow around the bottom, and maybe some grass coming up over the roots. The tree leaves look oddly familiar.. did I see something similar in another online game just a while ago?

mmmmkay: I felt the same way about the trunks. But like you say, the graphics are always changing so it will all be good in time.

Neat.

CyberX 07-14-2002 04:32 AM

I liked it but, the body does not fit with the rest...

archaonTCN 07-14-2002 05:22 AM

Yes, everything looks superduperlicious by itself, but you need to fix the contrast so they fit together.

Thats not Faheria, just a made up level w/ the concept GUI pasted on it, lel.

vovavziggy 07-14-2002 07:20 AM

Wow...
But it still seems like Faheria has been in development for ages, even with those kinds of results I still think it could've taken a little less time.

Falcor 07-14-2002 08:03 AM

We just got a lot of staff recently, So we were working on like 2 or 3 people. So progress was slow. But with this many people working on Graphics, it should take less time ;)

Python523 07-14-2002 08:11 AM

are you planning on trying to get stefan to allow you to use a terrain? I heard some talk about that

Falcor 07-14-2002 09:02 AM

We gave up on terrain, I think It would probably be better to use 2d, the staff agrees. We have so many talented levels people, it would be a shame to use terrain and waste that talent. Besides, Less work for me, lel.

hehe, 3d terrains are better for me, if the tileset is made correctly it practically auto-details :X

mmmmkay: And when I was talking with Stefan he also seemed iffy about the terrain, maybe because it looked neater than 2002's? hehe

WHIPENIE4 07-14-2002 10:10 AM

Heh, it does look better then g2k2's only I wouldn't put terrain or if you do don't put so many bumps its hard moving around.

Falcor 07-14-2002 10:11 AM

Well, You have to use images for EVERYTHING that isnt part of the ground. Its a lot of work on the graphics department, work I'd rather them do on things more constructive.

WHIPENIE4 07-14-2002 10:15 AM

Either way im sure it will turn out good.

mmmmkay: Well we're definately not using terrain. ;)

adam 07-16-2002 02:03 AM

I am humbled to see that screenshot. :(

I agree that the tree trunks need work though.

the round gui thing looks too round to me.
Top should be more like the bottom.
