Too bad it's a joke; this seemed like...well, to steal Neonight's word...a neatoleato idea. If you ever actually want to do this, the trick'd be to have enough content in Nebraska and Australia. But if you had a realistic interpretation of New York, Washington, and London, maybe Denver, Omaha, Chicago, Los Angeles, Tokyo...a lot of the rest of the towns could be generalized with a population, name of the town, and a bunch of houses. Lots of topographical maps, yum. The scripts would be rather simple, and internal consistency wouldn't be too tricky. Simply put, the laws of terrestrial physics apply and if it isn't possible in real life it can't be done. Lots of trains and planes, subways in the bigger cities. Cars for Christ's sake, CARS! And I don't mean go-karts, I mean take a fifteen-passenger van down I-80. I would be more than willing to help on the script end of things, should this ever come to fruition. |
I like this idea as well, and I don't mind helping if possible :)
Although tons of people have probably already said this, I had an idea like this too, except that each city would have a town center where they could capture it if necessary, and different factions of the Earth would rival to create countries. The trick is, however, to get everything in proportion. Perhaps from the last level in New York to the first level in Washington could be 2-3 levels apart, maybe even more. Then from Toronto to Calgary it would be much more, maybe 15-20 levels. There will be lots of empty space on the overworld, but that's ok. |
I say make Project: Mars just ask for Maloria's old tileset :p
Project: Earth will just be for later, That's all :)
With a big team Earth could grow up easily |
I will do all te cars......heheh i have some real nice ones made already includin a tvr tuskan
lmao. I would help only if you're really serious about this, so if you are give me a forum pm.
mmmmkay: We will see how this goes. ;)
Well, uh... if you people really want to help... we'd need something to work with the levels...
1210 levels won't send very well. :[ |
Online and with an NPC server.
No offense, I like the idea and all but wouldnt this playerworld get boring after a bit. I think of it as more of a offline game rather than a playerworld. I still like the idea but I cant see the picture of 40 people playing it all the time. Seems like to me that its a fight fight and win, its all over game. Come up with some more ideas that would keep players on the server, just giving harmless opinions and suggestions.
I don't have much to do these days. If you are really considering this, forum PM me too. Also, I would send about 3-4 zips with levels if I were you, or put them on an FTP and have people download them(zipped, of course).

Not all at once. Make 4 or 5 splinter zips, each housing 1/4th or 1/5th of the server.
Dude, thats over 200 levels per zip.
I would guess that would be about 1 meg zip. Big deal. If it were a good server, it wouldn't matter. But it would lag alot though.
Heh. It would be just scary if you had every little town in the US. Every house, building, rock, etc. I could live in my house! Hahaha!
heheh actually that sounds somewhat interesting.
It would be neat if you just got a bunch of people to make their neighborhoods in the graal style. They could make them as far as they know their neighborhoods. The hard part though would be connecting all of this.

I've got quite a few plans, but I don't know many people that can script them. |
The problem is, is having people work on levels. If somebody wants to work on some continent, or something like that, and he goes and downloads the levels, and another does the same, I am stuck with two workers that put hard work into each thing and only one can have his work officially added. :(
And, having it all online with a working NPC server would help the levels quite a bit. |
if u need help i cud help...
