OMG!!!!!

I just got an email from Nintendo today concerning E3! And the results are some of the best videos and screen shots of their up coming games.....it is.....it is........BAH.......words cannot express the sweetness i have seen. You can download videos and screen shots of the games here

http://e3.nintendo.com/index.html

Im definitly looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Melee! :D

Zulithe 05-17-2001 11:19 PM

I'm more likely to get a GameCube than an X-Box, but I might end up getting both eventually.

And Sega will always be around, they are survivors :)

I'm very glad that they left console development though, I was never very pleased with any of their hardware. I own a Dreamcast and it has a huge lack of RPGs. Shenmu is awesome but, again, it isn't an rpg.

Developers need to learn that RPGs (or hybrid rpg/adventure games like Zelda) sell more than most othe types of games. If a console doesn't have a healthy supply of RPGs it will die. Microsoft doesn't appear to have very many RPGs in its lineup. Nintendo will always have Zelda though.

Kaimetsu 05-17-2001 11:25 PM

And yet the PC has survived without any real RPGs. Sure, it has Everquest but does that really count?

sniperjoe10 05-17-2001 11:31 PM

Super Smash Bros Melee looks A W E S O M E..
but so does Halo on the XBoX..

Zulithe 05-17-2001 11:43 PM

Since the PC has been around there has always always been RPGs for it. Most of them are D&D related though O.o

Kaimetsu 05-17-2001 11:48 PM

What I'm saying, though, is that there's such a genre leap. The Final Fantasy saga wouldn't work on PC but other games do. It's not a given that a platform must have a certain game type to succeed.

GAMECUBE GAMECUBE GAMECUBE
Nintendo will always be the best.

Kaimetsu 05-17-2001 11:57 PM

Wasn't there talk of it being scrapped, though? I heard it depended on its E3 performance.

(Sidenote: The N64 was most certainly NOT the best)

freddyfox 05-17-2001 11:58 PM

GAMECUB Wiel be a construction bye NINNYTENDO!@!!!!! TEHY WILL MAKE 4573845 BILLION GAMES AND THEY WILL ALL HAVE 45 SEQUEL:S~~~!!!!!!!111111111 Tihs si becauz nintenod si STUPED so tehy tink everyone wil want to paly teh same gam over and OVER!!!!!~~~~

I disagree. The Playstation had a much better storage medium and it could actually do textures. Plus it didn't have controllers that required 3 hands...

Yes it is. If not for Nintendo's incredible 1st party software, the N64 would have died due to its lack of RPGs. No way I can really prove it but I do believe that to be true.

Kaimetsu 05-18-2001 12:31 AM

The PC lives without that game type because it has its own style. It's not unbelievable that another format could do the same. Heck, look at the GameBoy. It lives because of Pokémon, but is that really an RPG?

Kaimetsu 05-18-2001 12:36 AM

Yeah, the Gameboy did well but the GBA would be dead in the water if Tajiri Satoshi had never dreamt up his grand masterpiece.

PS = rubbish? No, I'm 'fraid not =/

Kaimetsu 05-18-2001 12:38 AM

I dislike the PS (mainly because mine is now broken) but it really was an excellent console. And even now it outsells the Dreamcast, the PS2 and the N64 put together.

Then the boundaries are very vague. Plus with the recent influx of casual gamers, a platform can probably succeed just with rubbish like Simpsons Wrestling and Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

*wonders if the WWTBAM game has been released in America, considering that they don't have the show itself*

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 02:12 AM

I am sorry to say this, but the PSX is only 32bit......for those that did not know this......it started out as an add-on for the SNES...but Nintendo redecided and thats why we have the PSX....notice how the controller itself resembles a SNES controller....note the actuall plug.....very similar. The n64 is a true 64biy machine designed for the output of 3D games. Im not sure what is meant by the psx can do textures.....so can the n64. Take some time to play the more recent games....like perfect dark or conker's BFD. For the most part....they dont always have to use textures......think of yoshi with an actuall texture on him *shudders*. I think the simple gourd shading looks good on him.

By far the n64 is more powerfull than the psx....and carts can store upto 512mb if compression is used.

SO Nyah :P

But man, the quality of a console is not decided by how many "bits" it has. Heck, only about 1% of the gaming population even know what those bits are.

Plus the N64's textures = bad. Actually, though, I don't think it's a matter of how good the machine is but how much graphical data they can fit on one weedy cart. Even 512Mb is nothing compared to the biggest PS games, which is why Final Fantasy went on Sony's darling instead of the N64.

And it seems nobody can justify the terrible terrible controllers. Analogue stick=flimsy and useless. And the THREE handles? Has nobody at Nintendo even SEEN a human being?

05-18-2001 02:44 AM

Dance Dance Revolution for PS2 0wnz j00. And that's all I have to say to that.

for the most part it is an innovative design.....and is very original.....i have no difficulty in hold nintendo's controller.

btw...square COULD have made an ff game for the n64.....but there is a thing called money that will keep anyone from doing what they want to do

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 04:39 AM

btw......give me an example of poor textures on the n64.....

Innovative<>Good. But anyway, the reason I heard for them using the PS is that it would've taken precisely 245 cartridges to fit the full thing on the N64.

As for examples of bad N64 textures, I don't have any on hand. Plus note that I meant "lack of" textures rather then poor ones.

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 04:50 AM

well...then say what you mean........and yes, square could put an ff game on the n64.....just use cut scences instead of fmvs.......when i said the thing about money......it was directed at licensing fees..........there are more crappy games on the psx than there are on the n64

That's true, but there are also more good PS games than good N64 games. And CGV is like the main part of FF.

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 04:58 AM

eh.......fmvs are nice.......i like cut scenes though....Rare does an awesome job with them too :D

maybe we should take this to a new thread? I am enjoying this debate unless you wish to end it.

Kaimetsu 05-18-2001 05:01 AM

I'm fine to continue it if you want to. Cutscenes are indeed very cool, but could you imagine FF7 without the epic 3D generated FMVs? And their rolling demos wouldn't be anything like as good.

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 05:04 AM

you have a good point.....have you played conker? That has some of THE best cut scenes i have ever watched.......

i am willing to agree to a truce if you will.......there is nothing more to debate

Valder 05-18-2001 05:06 AM

Guess what comes out the a week after my birthday
FINAL FANTASY!

Kaimetsu 05-18-2001 05:07 AM

A truce? I never realised we were at war :) But yeah, I'll agree to differ. I think you're right about a lot of things anyway, the N64 was indeed a very good console with some nice games. It was a pity it didn't do as well as maybe it should have.

G_yoshi 05-18-2001 05:11 AM

war? lol! there is nothing left to debate on.....you know you material well....as do i....i usually don't debate with others on this subject because they tend to use lame excuses and such......which they escape me for the moment. Im just sitting patiently waiting for the Gamecube......ah....it will be bliss

sniperjoe10 05-18-2001 05:20 AM

::likes the PSOne and N64 equally::

Zulithe 05-22-2001 04:58 AM

ANNOUNCEMENT!

According to this story... the GameCube will cost $199! A whole One-hundred dollars cheaper than PS2 and X-Box, not to mention it will have the best launch games (in my opinion)

I wasn't sure which system I would get at launch (since GC and XB launch only 3 days apart!) but now I'm certian which to get. Only problem is... their games will cost approx. $49.90 each which... is NOT cheap
