because Stefan failed Zone.

You do realize if those two things happen, the playercount could possibly break our awesome daily record of 0?!

You wanna how to make the server move foward? By bringing it back to the previous state and getting rid of a manager that doesn't even play the server to begin with.

So if the server was reverted back to how it was to begin with, is that going to make its players of that time magically come back and start playing again?
Or was it simply of such a high standard compared to the current server that it would be superior when it comes to attracting new players and that they just got rid of it for no good reason?

And lets say Stephen was removed...
Is there somebody obvious that is reliable, has an in depth plan of action but realistic enough so that they're capable of actually fulfilling their words?
If so that person should probably present their ideas either publicly or privately to the powers that be, but most of the time there isn't.

Some of the issues remain rooted in the problem that no one is interested in playing on the server. When there are a few of us who come back, new players are generally driven away by the lack of accessibility. I forget who it was who mentioned it a while back, but it would be great to revamp the payment system on Zone in a way that is not entirely geared towards stronger weapons for money. Other advantages could be given that require participating in the server, and online time to be earned.

Also the payment system is why so many of us want to revert back to a previous form of Zone. The introduction of the payment system took away some of the items that were used most frequently, such as pipebombs and gas grenades.

As far as Zone's direction goes, Zone needs to rely on enhancing the PvP aspects of the game. It might be interesting to develop more weapons, and achievements to sustain an interest in playing. I know that while I was manager that many people had already achieved the highest rank, legend, and that after reaching that point there is no longer any incentive to play.

Lasting accomplishments are only a temporary fix to an ongoing problem. Zone's weapon system is extremely complex and needs to be simplified.

are you going for Zone, Supernanny?

Tenchry_P2P 10-19-2010 08:35 PM

Manager should play zone in the first place, people who are staff should play zone in the first place = a reason zone ended up dying in the end.

And presenting ideas on the forums is magically going to bring players in? (Also, people do stay in contact with people who played with Zone back then, a simple "Hey, Zone reverted back! no more stupid bull****!) No its not. Zone back then was actually better than this Zone. As you've said you have no knowledge of Zone which means you really don't know how much better it is.
I also like how our manager almost never posts here lol

Considering they changed Iricia to a ****ty map with tile errors, I'd say they would get rid of that Zone.

Sadly, there isn't. but with what our last two managers have seemingly done. We can throw Ooola up there and he would be atleast active (Which is more than what both of them have done).

I'm not trying to argue whether current Zone is better or worse than the original Zone, I'm just basing my thoughts on the parallels this has with Classic where many people over the years had said things on the lines of "reupload the old levels" or "make it how it was before the npcserver", there are good reasons why this approach has never been successful for any Graal server.

I'm sure even no content would be appreciated if at the very least the manager acknowledged it. I only saw Stephen on Zone for a few weeks after he got the job, then it was back to GK and obscurity. He's not giving anyone any indication that he's aware of the lack of content, nor is he giving anyone reason to believe he has something planned.

Even if he does have something under wraps, this is not the sort of development experiment to risk on the p2p servers.

Tenchry_P2P 10-20-2010 12:13 AM

if i pm stephen a serious question like 'what are you going to do on zone' no reply :D i think he just likes being powerful

incase anyone says he doesn't reply to you end of story he does about anything apart from zone :D

Not that Zone doesn't deserve better but realistically, not that many people play PC Graal anymore.

UN, Era, and Zodiac all fight each other for the most playercount which spreads the very small active playerbase thin across three servers, with the highest playercount averaging probably in the 80's. Even if Zone got a complete overhaul and became an amazing server, there aren't enough players to enjoy the content, and it would spread the small playerbase even more thin.

Players want a bunch of amazing servers but the playercount can't support it. Of course, the argument is that if more quality servers come out that more people might be attracted to play the game, but think about that statement for a bit before asking yourself if you honestly believe that a few servers will all of a sudden bring a plethora of new players when Graal has never been properly advertised. There are probably around 150-200 players on at peak times in PC Graal--that's how many players each server should be averaging, not the total count of players online. That doesn't even take into account the lack of incentive in spending so much time developing quality content when there aren't enough players to enjoy your work.

Zone isn't the only server in critical condition, but the entire PC game as a whole.

that's true actually, plus i think if more people joinned graal it'd die due to ****ty server hosting.
