Thats what I was just thinking. I don't think this is possible . :/ Enless it is script while or something doing with npcs & lag.

Shards-Of-Fate 07-03-2010 03:17 AM

Borrowing a little screen shot from LTTP for an example..
http://img684.imageshack.us/img684/7079/exampleuj.png

Of course I'm going to be doing new tiles and they'll match his proportions better. But if you guys insist that he's too small, Let me see what I can do with a little thing I like to call the weekend.

fowlplay4 07-03-2010 03:28 AM

I just feel like it's going to turn into some sort of Graal-Habbo server based on the current sprite.

xMane 07-03-2010 03:52 AM

Same. With clothes on it looks a little wierd. It will look lot less "Habbo/Graal" when the sprites have armor. I think 32x32 tiles would look ok for a sprite that big. :) I think smaller houses and mabye the same sized door. http://img149.imageshack.us/img149/7432/20281536.png

Shards-Of-Fate 07-03-2010 03:58 AM

Yeah it was a quick sprite, and that in no way shows where the waist is. I was spriting what I was wearing.

xMane 07-03-2010 05:24 AM

I was showing how it would look wit 16x16 tiles in dirt. Btw I like the sprite anyway.

Shards-Of-Fate 07-03-2010 05:41 AM

Not a problem. And thanks. Hopefully I can get some more samples to show soon :D

You realize the perspective you gave him shows him at sort of a platforming view? Unless everything else is shown like he is, it won't match.

I'm working on that, trial and error.

How's them apples. Added a bit of shadow for a little more depth.

Noted changes, I took away his chin. Arms do not bow--they are simply pointed out. Smaller feet and longer, less disproportional legs.

I think a blackoutline would fit better, especially in a level, it will define the character better, it can also be dark gray or dark brown for that matter in this case.

edit: apparently the blackoutline makes the entire body look lighter.

Shards-Of-Fate 07-03-2010 05:43 PM

http://img88.imageshack.us/img88/7338/samplebody8.png

Tilted the other angles.

I'll definitely think about a black outline though. I'm trying to avoid it, really.

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/9124/samplebody9.png

Tried a darker brown out first :D

Shards-Of-Fate 07-05-2010 05:51 AM

He's not done, no--But I thought I would share some progress.
http://img823.imageshack.us/img823/2364/sample.gif

I just pegged his arms on there. I plan to make him angled more forwards and make his arms more fluid.

Fulg0reSama 07-05-2010 05:58 AM

That dude is chill.. like this is his world and no one can tell him what to do.

Didn't want to post back to back, so thanks for the feedback. XD His knees were bothering me, and I thought his arm really did go too far back. XD

time for sleep, more animating tomorrow.

Lol, Reordered the sprites--less frames and he looks more fluid. imo.

Edit: Getting the animation more fluid :D

Edit: Added his shading back in.

Edit: Shadows :D

DeCeaseD 07-05-2010 10:23 PM

Last one looks pretty damn nice if I do say so myself. ^^

Soala 07-05-2010 10:33 PM

Awesome :)

Shards-Of-Fate 07-05-2010 10:35 PM

derp, derp, derp...

:D

Fulg0reSama 07-05-2010 10:43 PM

We know he's incomplete and all but...

That left leg is bothering the **** out of me.

he's got like a 1.25 ft leg and a 1.60 ft leg. (Im trying to think ratios of normal to this size)

Shards-Of-Fate 07-05-2010 10:47 PM

Lol, Yeah--I finished what I was working on and uploaded him. XD At first I was trying to build an angle, now I'm not going to be using that wide of angle.

Crono 07-06-2010 12:49 AM

looks good, now for the running bit ;D

Shards-Of-Fate 07-06-2010 01:42 AM

Yeah, shouldn't be too hard.

To be honest I don't care what the 12 people on those servers feel about my work.

Not trying to be mean
But it can't compete with the GK/Zone sprites possabilities

Fulg0reSama 07-08-2010 01:33 AM

To be honest I like the coloring of these sprites more than GK/zones, Elk. My saying that GK/Zone are probably jealous right now was a joke. Though I think with time this could develop a very flexible sprite set up just like GK/Zones, Besides I like sprites a bit more cartoony than anything else.

To Shards: That's good.

Loriel 07-08-2010 03:13 AM

Yeah I could basically tell from the first post that this would look terrible animated

salesman 07-08-2010 03:41 AM

I think the downward walking animation looks awesome. The side-view one is eh...but that's probably because it's incomplete.

My only complaint is that the perspective seems more side-scroller than graal.

Loriel 07-08-2010 04:29 AM

Well, it seems pretty off to me how the torso is basically fixed in place with some random limbs waggling around it, in either perspective. But hey I guess it is too much effort to make an animation that looks anything like a human being actually moving about because then you cannot copy-and-paste it for every frame!!

lol. Yep. Its hard. <3

And I don't mean anything harsh about that. I'll take it into consideration and move in that direction. Could have been more constructive with your feedback, but I think I get the point nonetheless.

Elk 07-08-2010 09:54 AM

The sprites for Sanstrata once made were cool

Luda 07-08-2010 11:35 AM

I honestly can't picture myself playing a server with these sprites (Nothing against your work) I just don't think the whole slim look is 'graal-like'

Graal characters to me = chubby/cute.
