However, I love the way the DS games render their 3D objects, even the simplest shapes(like keys)... I just can't get mines to render anything like it. It may just be because I'm using 3ds' crappy default cel-shading material.

Can't find ANY screenshots of the items in-game though :/

I don't know much about 3ds, but I know with Blender you can make/download some really great materials, including cel-shading.

You should make that key icy blue, make a few eggs.....

Really nice stuff anyways. ;] Love the key. :3

DustyPorViva 12-16-2009 03:13 AM

I tried Blender and hated it :/ Interface was horrible.

I'm using Blender tho, but most of people tell me other programs like Maya are better. Might try it out.
Great stuff anyway, Dusty ! =D

I think paint should have the same as photoshop, ctrl + z for undo, and if you press it again, you undo your undo, to continue undoing further down the line you need to hold ctrl+ alt+ z, or something like that. I really like that one.

Well, for that kind of stuff you can use paint.NET too. Same functions, unlimited undo/redo, easier to use.

Wings 3D is very awesome for lowpoly stuff

I guess I'll dump my 3D stuff here too, since I don't do 3D that often and none of it is really that great.

May I ask what program you used when you made that sweet key? :)

Make the rest of the tower, that's what's to finish.

Also, I really like the key.

It's not horrible at all it just takes a lot of getting used to. A LOT of getting used to. Once you -are- used to it though, trust me, it's the most productive interface you've ever seen in all of existence.

Dashing through the snow...
http://i48.tinypic.com/24pifjs.png
Just felt like doodling, and liked the idea of high snow(hmm, now that I think about it, my original idea had the snow half the height... dunno why I made it so tall!). Doesn't tile or anything.

Luda 12-17-2009 08:50 PM

nice, i don't really like how it's so square but that can just be retiled

maximus_asinus 12-17-2009 08:54 PM

I like the half sized version, would be great if a server incorperates deep snow and its effect on movement, or different types of terrain and it's effects (deep snow slows you down, ice makes you slide, quick sand makes you sink/slows you down, etc)

WhiteDragon 12-17-2009 09:03 PM

That's sick haha

Actually, this is extremely hot :)
Will you release the tiles? Cool classic style blizzard-landscape.

DustyPorViva 12-18-2009 07:26 AM

Don't think it will be released as a tileset. It wasn't really created with a tileset in mind, just a doodle. And like Luda said, very square.

I fail at pie.

I miss Graal2001 :(

Luda 12-18-2009 08:52 AM

pie so hot, pun intended

DustyPorViva 12-19-2009 06:44 PM

2D mock-up that's supposed to be... well, a cookie to anyone who can guess. If you guess, that means I've done a good enough job. I plan to eventually make it animated... though I'm not good at animation.

Well it's actually supposed to be a demake, which is making a 3D game 2D.

DustyPorViva 12-20-2009 08:34 AM

Just messing in 3ds with more environmental stuff, and learning how to get particles working and such.

I think the scene looks pretty cool from above. Reminds me of 3d generated maps for games:

Think he's in university now. He may have moved to the US I'm really not sure anymore. :(

Luda 12-21-2009 09:21 AM

I think he posts stuff on cgsociety or conceptart

DustyPorViva 01-09-2010 08:33 AM

Boredome doodle. Started falling apart towards the end(the handle area), in my opinion.
http://i48.tinypic.com/2nk6p2t.png

Elk 01-09-2010 09:56 AM

looking cute, dont aa the blade itself too much so it looks more like a rd render, in fact, i would also preplace the outline on the handle with red tones (generally involve more red as darker tone) and give the lighter part of the outline a lighter neighbor color (sort of selout)
