Here it is in regular v6

Jiroxys7 10-06-2010 06:04 PM

I don't suppose there's any way to install this without uninstalling v5 is there? I'd like to try stuff on my server, but from the sound of it, I dont think it'd cope too well at all with my computer for casual use.

Just make a copy of the v5 exe and keep it in the Graal folder.

You could just extract the v6 client to a completely new folder and have it run from there?

MrOmega 10-06-2010 08:26 PM

NPC Code:
Script: Function -ScriptedRC.addPlayerlistMenuEntries not found in function onCreated in script of Weapon -Playerlist_v6
Script: Function updateVisibleDistance not found in function OptGraphicsVisibleDistance.onAction in script of Weapon -Serverlist_Options

just rename the v6 client to something like, graal_v6beta.exe, and u can have it in the same folder as the v5, works perfectly, i'm doing this.

Jiroxys7 10-06-2010 10:33 PM

Well first bug I immediately noticed was that when you toggle the playerlist to display community names, when you mouse over them on the playerlist, it still shows "Community: blahblah" instead of say, "Nickname: unknown" or whatever thier current nickname is set to.

edit: also, pms are still external even though i set them to internal.

It also seems that the playerlist will dock regardless of if you have it enabled or disabled.

Maximizing the main graal window will cover up the playerlist unlike v5.

And it does indeed take up much more CPU than v5 (this taking 50% cpu when idle compared to the v5 @ about 30% when semi-active. v6 taking upwards of over 75%~ cpu when active.)
I do hope this version will be much faster compared to v5 before it's officially released. graalv1&2 ran perfectly. then the speed was all downhill from then on. getting worse with each new version. I hope this trend doesnt continue :( (hoping im not alone on this)
so yeah.

MrOmega 10-09-2010 02:56 AM

Not sure why, but the client will sometimes crash due to my baddie system when the baddie attacks the player. Never did this in v5.1.

It needs to be re-added that's it.

If there's a problem with implementing it, I don't think Stefan should waste his time. Even if you _can_ abuse openurl(), you need access to the server. So, it's inherently going to be abused in very isolated incidents, especially given that most of the servers played are Classic playerworlds, and those servers tend to have somewhat decent response times to major staff abuses.

Similarly, how often to users try and trick people to visiting shock sites? I haven't experienced much, and I would say Valikorlia would be more prone to that. If there's really difficulty in implement it, I still don't think the problem is that prevalent. And I don't see how a prompt would 'save' somebody from being tricked, anyways.

That's not a very good reason to downplay security.

Hmmm at least it could prevent accidently opening the same url several times I guess.

Lol shock sites?
I get a notice when I'm about to visit an unsafe site that has been reported to download trojans and viruses to visitor's computers. Anyone who gets such notices like I do could take down the URL name, then make an NPC that opens the page for players or make a staff command for themselves that finds a specific player they dont like, then opens that page.
if their target doesnt have protection against this, then the attack is a success and now they have a major problem. (Note that some sites can trigger their own download without the user's permission.)

The point I was getting at is that the security concern is exaggerated.

That's pretty much the only reason I see for reintroducing the confirmation window. There are still people out there who click 8 billion times.

A point I've already discussed and dismissed. Not to mention that a confirmation window is not any kind of actual protection. It does not prevent somebody from clicking 'OK.' It does not tell them that the URL they're going to (especially if it's from tinyurl or bit.ly) is a shock site or is malicious, or whatever.

It does, however, allow the user to use their own judgement. I'm sure i wouldnt click OK on a window that says it's directing me to a URL with a completely different name than what's relating to what I'm doing (like "securetaxforms.com" or something.)

If youre implying that people wont read at least the www.<blah>.com..well, I must be one of the few that do. plus, if someone made such a system, i'd find it very fishy if a "do you want to open URL" window popped up for no reason.

Hell, if you even google "malicious website list" you'll find that the URLs on the lists look fishy. go ahead and do it. then tell me if youd honestly still click "OK" if one of those came up in a confirmation box.

salesman 10-09-2010 06:55 PM

As a player, I don't want the client opening web pages without my consent -- I don't care if it's safe or not. This feature already exists in v5, it's nothing new. If it's that big of a deal, I can't imagine it being too hard to make it optional (toggle via F3).

MattKan 10-10-2010 03:31 AM

There seems to be a problem in the options:

To everyone who has performance problems:
- Please tell us your Windows version and Graphics card
- On your favourite server please get an admin doing "/clientstats youraccountname", twice, with 10 seconds inbetween, and post or attach the second of those stats here
That way we can eventually see what is slowing you down.

oo_jazz_oo 10-11-2010 12:57 AM

Whenever I open the task manager while Graal is running, the client freezes.

Although, its only the image that freezes. I can still hear myself walking around if I use the arrow keys.
So, task manager crashes the clients video...

I'm running on windows 7 home premium, 64-bit.
ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card.

But, I had this problem on the last client as well.

Try to resize the window a little then back to what you had it. The image should unfreeze if it's what I'm thinking it is. I'm guessing when you open Task Manager, it's prompting you with the User Account Control that blanks the screen slightly asking you to Continue?

Admins 10-11-2010 06:07 PM

Has anyone tried to get the clientstats? It's also possible that I come online on a server to get the /clientstats.

Resizing the window just makes everything black.

And no, its not prompting me with the user account control.

My client stats are attached.
And I also noticed some other weird things.
Pure white tiles on the tileset dont draw correctly. They seem to appear as transparent, so, anywhere with white tiles, it the image gets skewed. (Image attached, left is v6, right is v5)

And one more thing, when using this script:
PHP Code:

new GuiDrawingPanel("Tile_Editor_Tiles") {

0;

width 2048;

height 512;

clearall();

drawimage(00gettileset());

The tiles will not draw the full 2048. It seems to draw the control, just not display the image.
About half way, the image just dissapears, but it actually extends the parent control the full 2048.

I'm not sure how showpoly alpha is supposed to be exactly, my guess is that it now takes r/g/b into greater consideration but either way for me it displays completely different in V6 compared to V5:

http://img830.imageshack.us/img830/7...lyalpha.th.gif

http://img218.imageshack.us/img218/8...yalpha2.th.gif

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/8...yalpha3.th.gif

Seems to be the case regardless of whether I use opengl.

Thought I'd also attach my Clientstats for the sake of the freezing/speed issues I mentioned before.

May be it multiplies the alpha value two times, can check this.
For freezing things: the game is lagging for you? It doesn't look it's the same server though. On DirectX the drawing of tiles seems to be very slow for you, while on OpenGL the tiles don't take any time, but there is some unknown thing in the game-timer.

With DirectX my framerate at first is incredibly slow, but only until I resize my screen (regardless of how large/small I make it), then it's normal, OpenGL on the other hand is normal with the exception of the freeze that occurs every second or so as reported by others.

For some reason the newest version won't work when placed in my old Graal folder. I never had problems with the other v6 versions, but the latest update causes a crash when I try to start it. Works fine when I run it right out of the zip, though.

This may be related to the filenamecache; try deleting it and allowing the game to rebuild a new filenamecache.

Just out of curiosity, can you open the properties window for your Graal folder and tell me how many files are inside? I've noticed just today that Graal on Mac opens a last faster when it's in a folder that doesn't have many files (or subfolders) in it.

That are the stats from when it was laggy? I don't see anything slow except a couple douzen of slow tree scripts.

The stats you have attached are from which server? It looks like you were in a particle test level, 30 particle emitters emitting tons of particles?

We also need to remove the 3d-visibility sliders. Wondering if we still need the particle-options, with the new version the particles should be fast enough and the script variables are not checked for on a lot of servers.

The particle setting is pretty useful really. Just because most servers aren't taking advantage of them doesn't mean that those that do should suffer for it.

No response on the image size limit? . . .
I would think since were supposed to be moving towards online tools, fixing a big issue with online tile editors would be an issue. Apparently not.

Also, the while tile thing is pretty annoying as well...

Should really never be forced to use pure white. Can just use 244, 244, 244.
