Also, we got a new GFXer, Anubis, and so far he's made 2 weapons (basic steel sword and spear) and their group's template.

He's also making a GUI, for selected item, HP, MP (if Crow, HolySheepy, or Chompy will script Magic :) ), and Experience.

No.

There should be no steel sword, spears, or anything along those lines. On Esteria, you're supposed to have the same weapon, but you can choose different skins for it. You level up your weapon :P

Keeping your staff very on task and assuring they don't do worthless work I see.

Err, what?

Crow 09-05-2007 07:03 PM

Codein got that right. I'm still here Switch, and aslong as I'm here there will be, for now, one single weapon. That was, and still is the concept.

Angelu made it clear what he wanted when we were explaining each other's project ideas. It'd be completely wrong to go against his intentions without consulting him :P

Switch, you technically own Esteria but we all know it's Angelu's project. Keep Angelu's ideas or, for the sake of morality, make a new tileset and use a different project name.

Hey, not as long as I'm still part of that project :P

Hopefully you won't leave the project, for I'll be afraid of what'll come of it.

Eh, well, I dont know yet if I will reupgrade when my gold runs out, so...

anubis_wing 09-05-2007 09:34 PM

I maded a stick :]

Switch 09-05-2007 09:54 PM

Codein when they told me what Esteria was about they said you could change the skins and upgrade them. So I was thinking "start out with a rusty steel sword, and then later you can upgrade to a steel sword, and then after maybe change the blade type to some fantasy mineral that we'll make up."

Everyone has the same weapon, you just level it up. You can, however, change the skin, which'll only change the appearance.

Oh Iwas just thinking AS you level up you have an OPTION, from maybe a merchant or a weaponsmith, to upgrade it.

Crow 09-06-2007 02:59 PM

That also Switch. You have skill level which will increase the stats of your sword, and you can upgrade it yourself.

Switch 09-06-2007 11:54 PM

'zactly ;)

Oh and JFYI, I changed the gui that Anubis made too make it both smaller and less complex.

You could've told me on RC instead of going off topic here.

Just to let you all know, I planned on working a bit more on Esteria again ;o

DEFINITELY!!

You still have RC JFYI

anubis_wing 09-10-2007 02:13 AM

I haven't gotten any jobs to do since Crow finished the weapon.
What not Switch :]

Horrified 09-10-2007 02:48 AM

This is absolutely the most rediculous thing I have ever seen spawn on the PlayerWrorlds Forum. Your staff don't even know what your goal is, and they're just MAKING stuff?

Wow...

Crono 09-10-2007 03:32 AM

I'm still not sure about the gameplay of the server though. What's it gonna be like?

One side seems to be saying you get one weapon and continually upgrade it.

The other side kind of explains it like a normal rpg server.

Crow 09-10-2007 02:47 PM

Anubis, I didnt finish it. Angelu actually made one for us, so we dont have to argue ;P

Horrified, the problem is that Switch sometimes randomly hires staff and tells them to make something, but he doesnt even know where I want to go.

Horrified and Crono, you will get a single weapon for now. Which would be the sword. You have to fight with it, skill increases when using it, and it can be upgraded. Later, more weapons will be added.

I like this system.

MrAnonymous_P2P 09-10-2007 04:10 PM

:(

Cherrykao 09-10-2007 06:37 PM

the characters on Esteria look very similar to this game: Sylph Online.

http://www.sylphonline.com/forums/

http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/foru...s.asp?TID=4898

perhaps just a coincidence?

Probably just some "inspiration". ;)

Crow 09-10-2007 08:16 PM

That game probably got their "inspiration" or how you want to call it from the same sprites Angelu looked at, or something similar. It's a basic style which was done alot of time in lots of different games. Angelu used some sprites made by some other graphics artist which name I forgot as a reference back then. No, he didnt play Graal. Atleast I dont think so ;P

I'd warn him in some way that'll make him stop, but whatever. This can end up killing you when every staff quits because they can't even figure out what should be done.

Sounds cool. 8)

anubis_wing 09-10-2007 10:25 PM

The sword Angelu made is enormous and wouldn't fit the sprites, I don't know what Crow is going on about.

Crow 09-11-2007 05:00 PM

I didnt even show you the one Angelu made anubis...

anubis_wing 09-11-2007 09:10 PM

Then I must have seen a different one :o

Do you have a point? Are we supposed to care or something? Are you just looking for ways to start a conflict?

It's how people get there kicks.

He doesn't even work for the game and/or endorse it, people just enjoy saying things to upset people who work hard on there crap, show it off and always want to be the one who starts the negativity.

Or you know...just pointing out a similarity. No way in that sentence even closely suggested he wanted to start a conflict. We all could say graal looks like zelda because its true. Or was your post just a way to rant on someone else?

Read the post above yours. There was no reason for such a thing to be mentioned other than if you wanted to accuse someone of stealing/copying graphics or such. If Cherrykao does graphics or works on a playerworld I would think those are the words of a jealous person.

My opinion of people on Graal isn't high enough for me to believe that he is simply pointing it out for the sake of pointing it out.

I agree with you. He probably didnt point that out just for the sake of it...

Seriously, why are some people always ****ing around and say things are stolen? That's just wrong. Don't say it's being stolen until you got a clear proof that shows that it is.

Stealing in general is a tradition common among our species. As we've developed more technology and made mass communication more readily available throughout history, it's only natural that the scope and frequency of theft have increased along with it, along with any respective levels of complaint. What's more interesting to me is how 'issues' with things like this only arise after a comfort level (or point of no return) has been sufficiently crossed and becomes mass-mediated. It's even more strange that issues in general are cherrypicked in trends based on public notariety and centralized around only those issues that obtain a truly negative standpoint. The way people act in general almost always displays the notion of "Do as I say, not as I do." and rarely offers any real solution to the problem.

In any event, I totally agree with what you're saying, regarding legitmate proof before an accusation is made. Similarities are the basis for which questions, improvements, and transcending norms are built from. In reality, they help to add a sense of cohesion to society, where execution is more important than simply the essence of the broader, original picture. Afterall, nobody's going to try to say that after the first RPG was made, any RPG that followed was a rip-off solely on the basis that it's an RPG (because that'd be ridiculous).

MysticX2X 09-13-2007 06:43 PM

I just didnt see where he said it was stolen. But i dunno you may be right. But i do know its common where people point out similaritys with no harm.
