Can't see how it's uglier than the bluegui and I'd say the external look fits in with the "OOC" factor of a playerlist to begin with.

You prefer GuiBlue over native controls...?

I prefer things to match. The external playerlist just doesn't match the internal GUIs.

Different strokes for different folks.

Find a nice theme, then?

Or I can use the internal playerlist with the GuiBlue profiles. ^^

It's an external window, it should match the rest of the windows... ala the OS. Why should an external window match and internal window? That doesn't make sense. Regardless, this is pretty much going way off-topic.

Playerlist bug: Buddies on other servers in your guild appear under 'Guild'.

DustyPorViva 07-22-2010 07:08 AM

The playerlist is not brought into focus along with the Graal window. So if I minimize Graal and go back to it, I have to bring the playerlist back into focus myself... it's quite annoying.

Also, I much preferred the gui windows to show connection status("Logging onto Graal Kingdoms...") instead of... whatever is being used right now.

Crono 07-22-2010 08:46 AM

Rather minor bug but when you have graal fill the screen (not fullscreen but double click it's bar) and restart the client, it doesn't start filled out.

Uh, no it's more than just aesthetics. It's pretty poor in terms of user interface & design. Text is unquestionably harder to read, poor choice of font color + color combinations, etc. But eh, whatever I guess.

v5 has done this to me....forever. xD
Since v5 was released...and I can't remember if it happened with prior clients.

I just always have to maximize the window every time I start Graal.

Still waiting on some updates that include the polishing of certain things like Font rendering.

It's a beta for a reason. I don't mind some glitched font issues.

Font is unbearable at times.

We're not about to jump the gun just because a few people, such as yourself, really really really wanna try the beta. That would be a very bad move.

It's closed beta to open beta... whats the harm? I don't want to find out that V6 runs like **** on my computer when it finally release, because V5 doesn't even run too well at times at the moment.

There's no reason this beta needs to be so exclusive... I've got some ideas I might want to contribute to V6 and might want to test some things and find bugs/flaws. I think I'm pretty good at finding glitches considering what I've done for Era. ;)

Crono 07-24-2010 10:05 AM

open beta = people begin to make impressions

you dont want to open up with a bad impression

Zone doesn't display well for me on V6; most of the ganis and content will not display.

Tried deleting FILENAMECACHE? I had a similar problem on Kingdoms and that fixed it.

A new version will be uploaded in a few hours, it's v5.26:
- Comes with some files packaged already (blue gui, icons)
- Command line option "-opengl" is working again, doesn't support full screen mode yet though
- Improved font rendering: all fonts except arial and verdana are now drawn with truetype hinting which is closer to the v5 font rendering
- New script variables player.diagonalwalkspeed = 0.5^0.5; and player.chatoffset = {0,-10};

Yay!

DustyPorViva 07-30-2010 12:38 AM

Still some kind of rendering problem with multiline controls or something. See UN's forum in external window.

Also, each external window is being given a taskbar button. This makes it annoying when you have a few windows open.

yay thanks for the chat offset :)

Text in particle emitters is not working. For example:
PHP Code:

with (findimg(200)) {

layer 2;

emitter.delaymin 0.1;

emitter.delaymax 0.5;

emitter.nrofparticles 1;

emitter.particle.lifetime 5;

emitter.particle.text "hi what's up";

emitter.particle.mode 1;

emitter.particle.alpha 0.8;

emitter.particle.zoom 1;

emitter.particle.angle pi;

emitter.particle.speed 8;

emitter.addlocalmodifier("range"01"alpha""replace"0.40.6);

emitter.addlocalmodifier("range"00.5"speed""replace"124);

Works fine in v5 but not in v6.

I was really hoping to use this on the iPhone and in v6.

DustyPorViva 08-01-2010 06:23 AM

Scroll wheel scrolls directly to the bottom and top of the scroll controls.

Also, text looks exactly the same to me.

When moving my character is shaky as hell. The problem that Crono mentioned earlier was fixed, but this one is the entire character. Honestly, this is probably one of the main reasons why I never use this client; I can't play with my character jerking around all of the time.

On first glance, these problems also still exist:

  • When moving (on all defined movement controls) if you Alt and Tab out of the window your character won't stop moving in the direction you were heading in. Much like the Ctrl/Alt bug above.

  • Maximizing to full screen messes up the screen. Ctrl, Alt and Delete and opening a program that disables visual themes also achieves this. These don't happen on my Graal 5 client, though a little error does pop up when I do Ctrl, Alt and Delete.

  • Use bold on the nicknames and chat like they usually are.

Any word on an open beta or release date yet?

cbk1994 08-08-2010 02:46 AM

Stefan replied to an email earlier saying that he expected to have an open beta some time in August.

WhiteDragon 08-08-2010 02:51 AM

There are still bugs that need to be ironed out before an open beta. The only thing an open beta really gives for v6 is testing on more diverse hardware. Otherwise, the current people who have it are more than able to find bugs.

A downside of open beta v6 is that developers would need to start thinking about making scripts that work on both v5 and v6 (because, who knows how long it would be open beta).

cbk1994 08-08-2010 03:12 AM

We need an open beta now. Particles and other effects are amazingly slow on v5, while they cause almost no FPS drops on v6. In addition, lots of players on Era can never get above 15 FPS because of compatibility problems between Graal and their hardware or OS. I know several players who have to use older PCs after getting new hardware because they can't run Graal on their new computer. There aren't any game-inhibiting glitches that I can think of, either.

Rufus 08-08-2010 03:13 AM

The players are not going to like it in its current condition.

What glitches are there that get in the way of gameplay? I rarely use the Windows client but I can't think of any major ones.

Sounds like you're saying the client needs to be entirely released right now, not an open beta.

v6 sorely needs to be released, even if only as an open beta. If players don't like it they can use v5.

The client does need to be entirely released right now, but Stefan has indicated he wants to do an open beta first. Minor glitches are no reason to hold back a beta.

Crono 08-08-2010 03:53 AM

v6 needs to set a good impression, or else you will have a lot of disappointed players.
