I didn't use it as a punishment, more so as a punchline. I could've easily said "your hat sucks" and kicked you. There is no "fairness" when you've been being as intolerable as you have been for past, well, forever.

In all fairness, that comment is very offensive. You using it as a sort of punishment makes it no better.
